Of note, there are two in-state guys in the top 100:

Pro style QB Dante Moore out of MLK who is the #12 player in the country right now and has a Michigan offer

OT Amir Herring out of West Bloomfield who is the #95 player in the country right now, has a Michigan offer and has 4 high confidence crystal balls in for Michigan

Hoke's mishandling of Gardner has nothing to do with the current staff's ability though. Gardner can speak to the culture, life style, campus, and history. If we can get a any of McCaffrey, Milton, McNamara, or McCarthy into the heisman vote by the time Moore is really considering his options, I like our chances.

He definitely still loves UM. And you're right, people look at me like I have three heads when I point out how great Devin Gardner was at his best. They seem to have memory-holed his performances in 2013 against ND, Indiana and Ohio State - arguably three of the 5 best individual games by a QB in UM history. He could have been a star and NFL player if he came here under Harbaugh.

He could have been a star in Rich Rod's offense, also.  After all, it was that offense that got him recruited and committed to Michigan.  Had Hoke any sense, he would have kept that style of offense as long as both DRob and DGard were in town.  But nooooo...

(Disclaimer: Do not mistake this for me wishing RR had stayed - I jumped out of that boat as year #2 unfolded...)

Seems like the state of Michigan is steadily putting out blue chip recruits. With MSU on the downward trend, now seems like an excellent opportunity to build great local relationships with HS coaches and lock down the state.

It’s funny because around the early 2010s and late 2000s a bitching point online was that the shitty MI economy was causing a loss in population and contributing to the state not having a ton of must get guys.

So exciting!
so 12 go to OSU, 12 go to Bama, 10 to Clemson,  8 to LSU, 8 to UGA, another 20 distributed to respective $EC Teams; And the rest of college football’s upper middle class can compete to get 1-3 commits per team of these remaining 30 Of the top 100. - usually having the best luck with local prospects.

UM, Stanford, and Notre Dame will commence to compete for the 8-10 of these athletes truly interested in education first, and manage to finish a close second to Bama or OSU for those that tell us how important education is to them and their families.
