Pretty great read on how Wilton almost left. Not sure if all of these details have been documented before. I feel like I've heard some of it at one point or another, but it's not a horrendously fluffy article either. Still, a good read on a slow board day so far (at least until a UFR is posted).

I'm thinking somebody should start a thread about said unspeakable events. Who knows?. Maybe it will gain traction and bring everybody together. It will be a thread about [X], not [X] being interjected into a topic, so who knows. I think it could work.

And I'm totally not going to be the one to start the thread. I just want to see it happen.

Reading this and I gotta wonder how much of Speight's success is Harbaugh's teaching skills vs. the "cream rise to the top" competition strategy. I believe it's both, but I often wonder if Speight was always this good and he just needed to find his own potential, or Harbaugh worked his ass off the mold this man. Either way, Speight has worked his ass off to be the leader of this team and the best part to me was this:

"Heading into Iowa on Saturday, Speight says he relayed to the team that they didn't come this far with nine wins on the season to leave Iowa City 9-1."

Competition, cream rising and Harbaugh teaching. I have all the confidence in Harbaugh and Fisch developing QB's and feel if Speight had left that O'Korn would be having the same amount of success and would be improving as the weeks went on also. I think we have QB's with talent and the only thing holding any/all of them back was lack of top flight coaching. I expect all of our QB 's to continue to improve, but you make the most gains actually playing games and that is where Speight is getting the biggest advantage.

Content: great. Speight is awesome, obviously I'm pumped he stuck around.

Editing: really terrible. A ton of missing words, sentences that didn't make sense, incorrectly conjugated verbs. Is 247 usually that bad?

This is the way Nick wrote that passage in his similar stirring article about Wilton Speight on today's MLive board.

"I woke up in the dorms during camp, Drake Harris was my roommate and I had told a bunch of my teammates that I was out," Speight says. "And Drake was like 'are you sure, man, are you sure?' I guess maybe Drake and Jake (Butt) talked me into it a little bit, to give it another week."

Wow, good catch.

That looks either like a nice editing job by Nick or somehow two guys wrote a very similar story within 8 hours of each other. 247's was posted this at 9PM last night. Nick at 5AM this morning. Neither story gives credit to the other one and neither sources where they got their quotes either.

Here's Nick's for those interested: http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2016/11/wilton_speight_recall…;

Whaaaat? There has NEVER been an MLive article without missing words and horrible or no editing! I'm not even going to go back and reread to make sure that article wasn't an exception, I'll bet one of my feet that article has glaring mistakes in it. I'll take your word for it if you reread it carefully, go on I dare you!

Sometimes I lose sight of the fact that these are kids and they are doing their best with what God gave them and the coaching they get. I lose perspective. My mom is right, I am such an asshole.
