2025 5* recruit DJ Pickett Info
Kid is a 5* safety with offers from UF, Georgia, FSU. Has family from Michigan and is visiting this weekend for the 5th time. Is a top 10 player in the class of 2025, with JayBaugh and Clinkscale as main recruiters.
Wonder if this could be a big recruiting weekend since early we couldn’t have recruits home (also wonder if that’s why we strategized signing guys early). Are there any other reports of major recruits visiting this weekend? Seems with early class recruiting is dead silent, would love to hear some chatter for 2024 (ala Underwood 👀)

How could I type some of those eyeballs. Sorry, I have some emotional and stylistic carryover from the Manson Graham graphic.

Tammie attended Michigan, DJ’s grandmother lives less than an hour away from The Big House, DJ’s late aunt, Niara Sudarkasa, was the first tenured African American professor at U-M, and his cousin, Michael Sudarkasa, is a member of Michigan Provost’s Advisory Committee. The connections are never ending.
There are some strong ties indeed. Great article.
Tammie seems really grounded. - "Still calls OSU - Ohio."

That kid's got some A+ genes. I'm assuming he must also be a strong student.

A²+ genes.

Brice Marich reported yesterday that he will not be in attendance this weekend. New plan is to come up for the Ohio State game.

Good it’s going to be shit weather

DJ Pickett is no longer coming this weekend. Had a death in the family. EJ speculates his next visit will be for The Game. This weekend is relatively light for recruiting.
Underwood is at LSU again this weekend. They’re hosting a big group with their 5* WR on campus, presuming they’re convincing him to leave the north. CU also looks to be a real competitor too. Jan 9 is still the decision date as of now.

This is depressing and not likely to turn out well for the good guys.
October 13th, 2023 at 7:11 PM ^
I don’t know why this is depressing. He wants to visit other schools, good for him. He has been here many times and has a great relationship with our an coach. If people don’t want to come here then they don’t.

What other environment would you want a recruit in the Big House for other than the ohio game? At least this year they have a competitive edge and should be louder than 2 years ago.

Playing QB for Brian Kelly seems…shortsighted. Has this man ever produced an NFL QB? Or failed to throw a player under the bus after exhibiting some form of coaching incompetence?
October 13th, 2023 at 7:06 PM ^
Very shortsighted. Seems like LSU is coming hard with $$. That is pure speculation. Devils advocate, Urban didn’t produce a serviceable NFL QB and he had 5*’s lining up. Seems like HS recruits want $$ and be able to put up video game numbers if you’re a QB or WR. Fundamentals be damned!

He won't be an NFL QB but Jayden Daniels is putting up some big numbers this year. I think he has around 2k passing, 20 TDs and a few hundred yards rushing.
It would absolutely suck to lose out of Underwood though. He would probably start as a freshman maybe a sophomore and then be a 1st round pick.

I think you’re undere$timating the value of attending a pre$tiguous univer$ity with a$ rich of a hi$tory a$ L$U ha$

Brian Kelly may not even be at LSU by the time BU "would" arrive.

Hey Brian Kelly was great in Tommy Boy.

He's not visiting btw

Mom is a UM grad and she says he is not emphasizing NIL
October 13th, 2023 at 6:17 PM ^
“When it comes, it comes. I tell DJ never to chase a dollar. It’s about doing what you love. The money will eventually come to you. You’ll get paid for your performance, and you’re an amazing player. I think parents need more education on it. A lot of players are getting caught up in NIL, and they are making the worst decisions of their lives, even to where it affects their future NFL contracts.”
Just for reference.

+1 to his mother more so than your posting. Whether he chooses UM or another school, too many people play the short game rather than the interim or long game. That goes far beyond athletes.

Gladly concede.
She's probably on here, so go find her for her deserving +1!

I agree, but it's also worth adding that some don't have the luxury of playing the long game. It's a lot easier to do that when you have a stable situation, but sometimes the short game is the better decision based on the needs at the moment.

I'm pretty sure anyone who reads this interview will come away thinking "Michigan lock". While that isn't true damn does this young man and his family sound like perfect cultural fits
October 13th, 2023 at 6:15 PM ^
Nailed it. Really hope we land this kid. He/family embodies Michigan and exactly the type Harbaugh is continuing to build the program around. Sure, he's a 5* prospect that everybody wants, but man, is he a perfect fit.
October 13th, 2023 at 6:55 PM ^
Regardless hearing his background I feel his choice won’t be because he’s of bagmen. So may the best school and best fit for him win, and I like our odds despite early predictions.
October 13th, 2023 at 6:48 PM ^
I read some article that essentially interviewed his mom (UM grad). Sounds like they are interested in more than football (becoming a good man, future jobs, etc.). Don’t care about NIL. Seems like a perfect fit for the best university in the world.

Pretty sure I saw that he’s coming for the OSU game and canceled this weekend.
