Kid is a 5* safety with offers from UF, Georgia, FSU. Has family from Michigan and is visiting this weekend for the 5th time. Is a top 10 player in the class of 2025, with JayBaugh and Clinkscale as main recruiters.

Wonder if this could be a big recruiting weekend since early we couldn’t have recruits home (also wonder if that’s why we strategized signing guys early). Are there any other reports of major recruits visiting this weekend? Seems with early class recruiting is dead silent, would love to hear some chatter for 2024 (ala Underwood 👀)

Tammie attended Michigan, DJ’s grandmother lives less than an hour away from The Big House, DJ’s late aunt, Niara Sudarkasa, was the first tenured African American professor at U-M, and his cousin, Michael Sudarkasa, is a member of Michigan Provost’s Advisory Committee. The connections are never ending.

There are some strong ties indeed. Great article.

Tammie seems really grounded. - "Still calls OSU - Ohio."

DJ Pickett is no longer coming this weekend. Had a death in the family. EJ speculates his next visit will be for The Game. This weekend is relatively light for recruiting.

Underwood is at LSU again this weekend. They’re hosting a big group with their 5* WR on campus, presuming they’re convincing him to leave the north. CU also looks to be a real competitor too. Jan 9 is still the decision date as of now.

Very shortsighted. Seems like LSU is coming hard with $$. That is pure speculation. Devils advocate, Urban didn’t produce a serviceable NFL QB and he had 5*’s lining up. Seems like HS recruits want $$ and be able to put up video game numbers if you’re a QB or WR. Fundamentals be damned!

He won't be an NFL QB but Jayden Daniels is putting up some big numbers this year. I think he has around 2k passing, 20 TDs and a few hundred yards rushing.

It would absolutely suck to lose out of Underwood though. He would probably start as a freshman maybe a sophomore and then be a 1st round pick.

“When it comes, it comes. I tell DJ never to chase a dollar. It’s about doing what you love. The money will eventually come to you. You’ll get paid for your performance, and you’re an amazing player. I think parents need more education on it. A lot of players are getting caught up in NIL, and they are making the worst decisions of their lives, even to where it affects their future NFL contracts.”

Just for reference.

I'm pretty sure anyone who reads this interview will come away thinking "Michigan lock". While that isn't true damn does this young man and his family sound like perfect cultural fits

I read some article that essentially interviewed his mom (UM grad). Sounds like they are interested in more than football (becoming a good man, future jobs, etc.). Don’t care about NIL. Seems like a perfect fit for the best university in the world.
