2022 UM NFL draft prospects

Barring an apocalypse Michigan will extend its nations leading streak of having a player selected in the NFL draft to 84 years this spring. Let’s take a look at some of the players and where they might go.

Graduated: No eligibility left:

Hawkins: Will likely be selected. Mid round pick.

Vastardis: Never would have thought he was an NFL prospect but I would say he has a chance at at least being an undrafted free agent.

Players with eligibility left who could/will go.

Hutchinson: Gone. Top 5 pick

Ojabo: Almost certainly gone. First round pick.

Hill: Likely gone. Late first/2nd round pick.

Haskins: Likely gone. Probably not a high pick but probably won’t improve his stock coming back. I think he will be a mid-late round pick.

Steuber: Gone. Announced he is going to the senior bowl but could have come back for a 6th year. Probably a mid-late round pick.

Ross: Could come back for a 6th year but I’m doubtful despite the whispers. We shall see. Late round/UDFA most likely if he goes.

Hinton/Smith: Really no idea how high their stock is but I’m very hopeful they will both be back to anchor our DL next year.

Eric All, Cornelius Johnson, and Ryan Hayes are three other players who could potentially entertain leaving early although I would not expect any of them to declare. However there are no certain tees and depending on how the season ends could play a factor as well.

Now that we're in the winner's circle, I wonder if we'll get to enjoy potential first rounders saying no to the NFL and coming back to college to compete for championships like OSU and Alabama.

Hill will more likely be mid first round to late first round.    Once he tests his stock will go up.    Right now he is projected in the 20s by most serious draft projections.   Haskins 3rd to 6th only because RBs aren't valued that much in the NFL.   Ross I could see coming back.  AS should be a 4th to late Rd pick.    Someone earlier this year had him in the first or second Rd.   The rest need to come back to improve stock.   Hayes especially with All as well. Those two along with Smith and Hinton could improve draft stock tremendously.   Seen Hiton as a 3rd or 4th rounder in one site which was very surprising imo.     Would love to see Ojabo back but his stock is to high and next year he will be getting the attention Hutchinson has this year.   If he does come back he could get better and become a top 3 pick but right now most people have him in the top 15.

I honestly see Dax coming back for another year unless he has two more incredible games on the biggest stage. Which if that's the case and we come away with two W's where he plays out of his mind? We'll live with it.

It sounds like Ojabo wants to come back but is playing his way out of having a true option.

Haskins is 100% gone, Stuber is gone and it sounds like Ross is gone, but they'll make a push to keep Ross.

Hinton and Smith return, as do Hayes, CJ and All.

Although if All has a monster two games...I would switch that to "gone" for him as well.

We need both Moody and Robbins to return.

Haskins and Steuber aren't getting out of the middle rounds. Hayes is a wild card depending on how well he performs in the playoff but as of now, he should be back. Hinton will be back and Smith should be back. However, when a guy goes from completely off the NFL radar to a probable mid-round pick (again, depending on bowl performance), that can sometimes be too enticing to pass up.

As for Hill, I give him a 25% chance to return. I really don't think he will go in the 1st round, despite some of the hype he's receiving. And he has every reason to think he could drastically improve his stock by coming back. He would be a mortal lock for the top 25 in 2023.

I selfishly want Obajo to stay, but that man needs to get paid while he can. He could probably use another year in college, but he'll be the main focus of every team we face next year if he does. He's got first round upside right now. Maybe he'd become a world beater like Hutch and destroy double teams all season, but his stock can fall much farther than it can rise at this point. He should be gone, but man... I wish he could stay.
