2022 OLB Michael Williams II names M to top 10

West Bloomfield (MI) West Bloomfield outside linebacker Michael Williams II named a top ten today, and unsurprisingly, he named Michigan to his top ten. He's a 4-star, the #20 outside linebacker, #259 overall, and #6 in the state. He played more of a defensive end position, but at 6'3" and 220 pounds, he could be an OLB/DE hybrid.

I'm interested to see his film from this past season, because I didn't think his 2019 film was great. But a lot can change in a year.

I don't think he is going to have much film. It looks like he was injured for much of this season and definitely looks like he packed on some pounds. Looks closer to 230-240 to me. Not sure if he played in the championship as he didn't show up in the box score. But apparently he scored a TD a couple of weeks ago as a TE.

On film he looks way bigger than what he was listed. Maybe he needs to rework his body for a college program. Not sure if he's nimble enough for LB/DE. Maybe a blocking TE or actually needs to tack on a bunch of weight and become a DT

Here is his TD from 2 weeks ago

I've always understood it to be family preference. My father is a "Jr." and used to tell a story that he was supposed to be a "II" but that an error was made when the hospital filled out his birth certificate and they never bothered to correct it. But my grandmother was known for telling wacky tales that had, at best, only one foot in reality, so I'm not sure how much truth there is to that one.

Did Bama offer?

if so, looking forward to hearing how much he values education and the student-athlete experience during his recruitment...

Before finishing a “close” second to Bama for his commitment.
