I think he's going to give real competition to the 3 QBs (if all 3 are still there next year) ahead of him, McCaffrey, Peters, and Milton.

I feel like that was always gonna ve the case. I don't think he would have transferred there if he wasn't going to win the starting job.

In the NFL he only briefly had Vick and Kaep as mobile QBs in the NFL so his system can be worked with a guy like Speight.

No, he’s back in college because people said his system wasn’t working. He won in Philly, but clashes with the FO. His offense was fine (um, RPOs helped Philly) but his defenses stunk.

He made Mark Sanchez look better, somit is not surprising that a very accurate and deceptively mobile Speight won the position. And once again, for all the Speight haters, compare Wilton’s stats with those of some all time UM greats—or simply continue to harp on only the negative plays and not his overall w-l record or his ability to overcome mistakes and play well from behind.

Do you know who also “always” has QB transfers? USC and Alabama. USC moreso under Carroll and Koffin/Sark, but definitely teams that recruit 4 and 5 Stars perennially at the position—those kids want to start. They lose out to other 5 stars and they look to play elsewhere because they can. That is how Harbaugh will work now that he has the QB equity he worked to accumulate in his first three short years.

if Peters or DMac left today, they would likely be starting next year wherever they went in D1, like Speight. Like Joe Burrows from OSU to LSU. I’ll take that talent level.
