2019 QB Cade McNamara Will be Enrolling Early
Cade McNamara will be graduating early from high school and enrolling at An Arbor in January:
I think he's going to give real competition to the 3 QBs (if all 3 are still there next year) ahead of him, McCaffrey, Peters, and Milton.

Helluva name

Also Speight was just announced as the starting QB for UCLA. Didn’t see that coming.

I just heard Pat Forde say that as well...wowsa. Very interesting indeed.
August 30th, 2018 at 6:29 PM ^
Damn. Definitely did not see that coming...
In Chip Kelly's offense...?

To put it nicely, Forde said that he wasn't exactly the dual threat QB that Kelly normally starts.

I feel like that was always gonna ve the case. I don't think he would have transferred there if he wasn't going to win the starting job.
In the NFL he only briefly had Vick and Kaep as mobile QBs in the NFL so his system can be worked with a guy like Speight.

Isn't that why Kelly is back in college though, because his system did not work in the NFL.
August 30th, 2018 at 11:17 PM ^
If I recall, it wasn't for a lack of offense.

No, he’s back in college because people said his system wasn’t working. He won in Philly, but clashes with the FO. His offense was fine (um, RPOs helped Philly) but his defenses stunk.
He made Mark Sanchez look better, somit is not surprising that a very accurate and deceptively mobile Speight won the position. And once again, for all the Speight haters, compare Wilton’s stats with those of some all time UM greats—or simply continue to harp on only the negative plays and not his overall w-l record or his ability to overcome mistakes and play well from behind.

Incredible spelling from the Superintendent!

February, Janruary. I don't see the problem here.

This is the plan for all QBs thus far under Harbaugh. Get QBs in early and get them graduated in three years.

SO they can transfer out quicker!!! ; )
What happens next season if Patterson stays(which I believe he will) and has a good season? Who leaves? I believe Peters leaves as soon as he declares to stay at UM for 2019 season.

Minnesota with the true freshman, walk-on quarterback staring tonight. Just a reminder, it could always be worse.

I see he likes them as he likes his coffee. Respect.

lol that's his guidance counselor. thirsty ass larry
August 30th, 2018 at 6:38 PM ^
Well … NICE.

In addition to the 3 QBs you named, OP, remember to make room for the inevitable QB transfer Harbaugh seems to always covet.
August 30th, 2018 at 6:46 PM ^
Will likely need to make room before Janruary.
August 30th, 2018 at 11:42 PM ^
Lol. If I misspell January at work, I am blaming this thread.
August 30th, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
Hey if Harbaugh wants to take a transfer every year, I'm cool with it. As long as we don't have to deal with a situation like last year, I'm open to anything.

Do you know who also “always” has QB transfers? USC and Alabama. USC moreso under Carroll and Koffin/Sark, but definitely teams that recruit 4 and 5 Stars perennially at the position—those kids want to start. They lose out to other 5 stars and they look to play elsewhere because they can. That is how Harbaugh will work now that he has the QB equity he worked to accumulate in his first three short years.
if Peters or DMac left today, they would likely be starting next year wherever they went in D1, like Speight. Like Joe Burrows from OSU to LSU. I’ll take that talent level.

"An Arbor" is awesome "Janruary".

Cade McNamara seems like an excellent recruit for us to have. I love that he seems very ambitious and motivated.

I agree. Seems like a very mature kid and a natural leader. Very important traits to have at the quarterback position and in life. Future looks bright for this young man. Glad he’s committed to the good guys!!
Go Blue!!
