2018 BBQ at the Big House visitors list

Submitted by Magnus on

The 2018 BBQ at the Big House is taking place this weekend, and the list of visitors has been extremely fluid. I've had it up and running for a few weeks, but I finished making some additions and subtractions this morning. Here's the list with brief writeups on each and every prospect. It should be an interesting weekend.

Magnus, I appreciate all the work you do and I enjoy reading your articles.  BUT I'm always skeptical to go to your website during work hours because of the half naked chicks that are on the right side of the page (under more from Touch the Banner), and the ones that are at the bottom of some posts (you do give warnings for these ones).  Don't get me wrong, I love seeing beautiful women in Michigan gear but I wonder if you'd get more views if you just stuck to sports writing.

I appreciate the compliments and your input.

Not to insult you, but if I thought removing that content would increase traffic to my website, then I would get rid of it. To a certain extent, my website is about my love for (Michigan) football. On the other hand, it's also a side business of mine. Those pictures generate traffic, some of which probably wouldn't be available otherwise, so that would be messing with my bottom line. Lots of businesses - magazines, websites, TV shows, fast food restaurants - have come to the conclusion that, for lack of a better phrase, "sex sells."

Furthermore, the links I post on a nightly basis are a way for me to generate traffic and discussion without spending a ton of time creating the content. I usually only have time to write one post per day, and sometimes I don't even have enough time to get that done. So getting rid of those posts would be roughly the equivalent of cutting the number of my posts in half, which works for some sites, but not necessarily in the (sometimes) fast-moving world of college football.

So...I get what you're saying, and I don't want to be dismissive. You're not the only one who thinks that way. I'm just not sure there are enough of you to make up the difference.

Magnus,

With all the shit that has been here lately (well,  honestly since last football season), thank you for being one of my favorite contributors to this board. When i see a post from you,  it helps give some sound logic to what others may be ignorantly speaking about.  When i see you post a link, i generally try to click it to get you the traffic.  Between you,  space coyote,  and umbig, (and mineral king,  Haha,  but he left) yall are the reason this site doesn't go to total shit. Thank you,  i appreciate all of your comment and efforts.

I actually agree with Robbyt003! I love reading Magnus' write ups and believe his scouting reports the most! When he likes a player and we get him, I'm so much more excited than the stars he has! There are just so many photos that can get me in trouble at work or home so I visit less frequently than I'd like to! Haha I would definitely go to the site more often if it was toned down a bit! :) My wife would appreciate it too!

The girls are behind a click wall with a notation saying such.  My wife actually likes to go through the girls with me.  She seems to be a much tougher on her evaluations for some reason but it’s fun.

Good looking girls and good football.   What’s not to like?

My issue isnt with the lovely ladies. I think you do a great job of hiding them unless I click to see them. My issue is that often times the main text runs under the sideboard posts.

Dumb question, but how does the soccer...er, futbol game interfere with the barbeque at the big house.   Kinda hard to BBQ when 105k people are in the stadium?

I don't think it's great that he's not coming for the BBQ, but he's also not visiting the other teams involved (Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State), so I think it's just a weekend that doesn't move the needle in any one direction or another.

I think Michigan is in a pretty good spot as long as he's still planning to take an official visit in September.

Hill tweeted out not along ago (a couple weeks?) that he would be announcing his decision soon. I don't think anyone knows a specific date, just that general idea. There were some who thought he would commit by the end of July, and then I've seen some people say he wants to get it done by the time his senior season begins.

So no, I haven't heard anything different, really.

The list of visitors is an odd mix of some 5- and 4-stars on one end along with some who dat/MAC offerees on the other end. Is this the way it's always been with the BBQ?

I'd be interested to hear Magnus's take or from those in the know, but I would imagine that some of the who dat visitors are there with higher rated teammates or are from schools where the staff is looking to build relationships.  Might even be a few where the visit might be kind of a favor/ boost toward getting a look from the MAC.

Dunno how it's been historically, but I think they should be able to bring in a pretty good crowd and still give the top guys plenty of individual attention.

That's always been the way, really. I've been posting BBQ at the Big House visitors lists for a long time, so they're all available if you search for them. I won't post all the links here, but sometimes it's funny to go back and look at them.

Andre Seldon and Tyrece Woods are two guys who have been coming to the BBQ for a few years. Seldon was tiny with an offer from Kentucky, and Woods was a linebacker without much recruiting attention. Now Seldon is a commit, and Woods has a Michigan offer.

Another thing is that recruiting information is always spotty. Some totally unknown recruits might have visited for the BBQ in the past but word never really got out. Maybe they're preferred walk-ons at Michigan now or ended up at a MAC program or something. There are no official lists for these things, so we just have to go by the publicized information, tweets, etc.

FSU has something like 5 DEs already in this class.  And I think Morris was the first of them to commit.  So I wonder if either FSU is expecting to lose Morris, or recruited over him and is hoping he flips.

His film isn't bad, definitely SDE prospect.  Doesn't strike me as a future game changer or anything though.
