2009 Recruiting Round-Up (Offense)

Submitted by MinorforPresident on
So unable to sleep I decided to go through Rivals lists and check who we had committed and who was still showing interest. I started with offense and will try and go through defense tomorrow. I also added in committed players who we were rumored to be pursuing as well. Only players with a medium interest level are listed if uncommitted at this time. Feel free to add to the list, I have them broke down by position according to rivals with star ranking and location: Dual Threat QB #6 Tate Forcier (Scripps Ranch, CA) 4*-committed #8 Shavodrick Beaver (TX) 4*-committed RB'S #32 Teric Jones (Detroit, MI) 3*-committed #42 Hersey Jackson (Allendale, MI) 3* #62 Vincent Smith (Pahokee, FL) 3*-committed WR'S #31 Cameron Gordon (Inkster, MI) 4* #43 Lamar Scruggs (Jacksonville, FL) 4* #57 Terrence Davis (Fremont, OH) 3* #81 Dewayne Peace (Grand Prairie, TX) 3*-committed SNAKE OIL #12 Je'Ron Stokes (Philadelphia, PA) 4*-Tennessee #36 Willie Haulstead (Titusville, FL) 4*-Florida St. #38 Kenny Bell (Rayville, LA) 4*-LSU #42 Jamal Patterson (McDonough, GA) 4*-Stanford TE'S #6 Dion Sims (Orchard Lake, MI) 4* #35 Terrell Mitchell (Powder Springs, GA) 3* OT'S #8 Marcus Hall (Cleveland, OH) 4* #17 Taylor Lewan (Scottsdale, AZ) 4* #19 Michael Schofield (Orland Park, IL) 4*-committed #26 Travis Bond (Windsor, SC) 3* #55 Chris Freeman (Trotwood, OH) 3* OG'S #16 Quentin Washington (St.Stephen, SC) 4* OC'S #25 Matt Couch (Camp Hill, PA) 2* APB'S #9 Fitzgerald Touissant (Youngstown, OH) 4*-committed #39 Robert Walker (Mamou, LA) 3* #45 Rodriguez Price (Fairburn, GA) 3* ATHLETE'S #3 Orson Charles (Tampa, FL) 4* #8 Donovan Tate (Cartersville, GA) 4* #10 Denard Robsinson (Deerfield Beach, FL) 4* #11 Jeremy Gallon (Apopka, FL) 4*-committed #16 Dennis Thames (Louisville, MS) 4* #19 Josh Robinson (Lauderhill, FL) 4* #51 Mywan Jackson (Seffner, FL) 3* #94 Thomas Gordon (Detroit, MI) 3*-committed So total we have (9) players on the offensive side of the ball committed not including Brendan Gibbons (kicker) which would make (10). There's a few guys I haven't really heard of so not sure where, if at all, we stand with them. Ones I think we are at least in the running seriously for are: Taylor Lewan, Chris Freeman, Denard Robinson, Josh Robinson, and Mywan Jackson. If we could land 4 of those 5 and possibly toss in a "snake oil" receiver and the O is set. Again any insite or additional information anyone can add to the list is appreciated. GO BLUE!

Is Jeremy Gallon... Have you seen his reel?? This kid is VERY SMALL, but VERY FAST and makes people miss. I can really see a four-wide set in 2010 with Stonum and Ricardo or Clemons on the outside, and Odoms and Gallon in the slots. Throw in a line with experience, a dual-threat QB with at least one year in the system and Shaw, McGuff, Toussaint or Vincent Smith in the backfield... and you've got yourself A MACHINE. it all makes Ninja FB seem like a prophet.

It seems like nobody on MgoBlog is talking about this kid, but he's a freakin' MADMAN. And you're right... certainly he's no secret, esp. in the state of Florida: FROM THE ORLANDO SENTINEL: Orange County schools are out all next week for the Thanksgiving break. But Apopka’s football players are quite happy their holiday will include alarm bells and mornings on campus Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Blue Darters (9-2) made sure they wouldn’t be handing in helmets and gear by rolling to a 41-21 win over Timber Creek (8-3) in a Class 6A first-round playoff game Friday night. "It’s going to be fun practicing over Thanksgiving, right guys?" a smiling Apopka Coach Rick Darlington said in a postgame huddle of players, coaches and fans. Apopka overcame a rash of penalties and two lost fumbles to roll up 495 yards rushing. Senior star Jeremy Gallon, who sat out Apopka’s final regular-season game with a left ankle injury, came up limping several times Friday but said winning eased the pain. He ran for 137 yards, with a big chunk of it on a first-half breakaway. He swiveled away from baffled defenders three times on his way to a 56-yard touchdown run that made it 20-0 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Travelle Davis added 161 yards and two TDs. Sophomore Tom Smith ran for 100, including a 56-yard scoring sprint aided by a downfield block by receiver Donald Scott. And senior reserve Marc West spelled Gallon and got in on the act with 91 yards, including a TD sweep of 59 that put Apopka up 34-14. "Too much Gallon," said Jim Buckridge, coach of a Timber Creek team that was trying for its first playoff victory. "They’re all good though. That’s the best team we’ve played all year."
