Go Blue!!!
Down to 20th, huh? They were 18th before allowing six hits and one run while sweeping Rutgers in four games last weekend, including Beaubien's perfect game (she's slipping a bit, there were baserunners in last night's no-hitter).
Their biggest game in two years tonight.
Only way to change that ranking is to get to Gabbie Plain. Not many do. I doubt she's coming out of this game unless the mercy rule is impending. I'm guessing we'll see both Storako and Beaubien tonight - don't want to chance letting that lineup get too long a look at either one.
It'll be interested to see which pitcher Hutch starts, the tournament-tested Beaubien or the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year Storako. Solecismic's idea sound reasonable, use both so UW's hitters don't get into a groove with either.
I like what UM's pitching coach Brundage says about the pair, that they're a "one-one punch."
Id alternate the two pitchers as much as I possibly could and FCK Washington up....I hate to say it but im not very optomistic
Hutch tells the players, over and over, to have "good" at bats. That doesn't mean getting a hit every time. It's about having a plan and the discipline to swing/take according to that plan, working the count, moving baserunners over when possible.
They've been working toward this game for two years now. They have the pitching to keep them in it. I wouldn't call it optimism, but I think they are capable and it should be one of those old-fashioned low-scoring games that Hutch's teams excel in.
I believe! GO BLUE!
Dropping to #20?? Prove them wrong Lady Wolverines! They have great pitching so just keep the hits coming. Go Blue!
Stupid question probably... if they lose are they done?
No, it's a double elimination situation.
Gracias, Mick
Is there any way to get tickets to the event if you're in Seattle? I haven't been able to find info anywhere.. :(
GO BLUE!
BEAT PURPLE!
The ticker had UM as 1-0 and UW as 1-0. Is this a round robin format?
Double elimination.
The loser of Seattle/Portland State (next) is eliminated. The winner of that game will play the loser of Michigan/Washington in an elimination game laaaaaaate tonight. Whoever wins that elimination game will play this game's winner to advance to superregionals (probably in Norman) next week.
Should add that the winner of the elimination game tonight would have to beat the winner of the UM-UW game twice to advance
A couple of links to follow the game.
For those that don't get ESPN2 try:

Also the Huskies site has a much better Statcast:

Go Blue !
0-0, top of 4th
Feels like this could go a while.
Wow, that whole "We are going to walk out of the room after we hear our name called" is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.
I don't care how cold you pretend to be, seeing your name on ESPN hosting a region; that would be freaking exciting. That was too much.
They were ranked 6th in the nation and got seeded 16th, below 2 teams they finished ahead of. They have every right to be upset with FIFA, I mean the NCAA Selection Committee. They are just as corrupt. It’s not like the PAC-12 is some second rate softball conference. They are the best conference.
https://pac-12.com/content/pac-12-softball-national-championships
That wasn't the point of why they were "upset."
One of the players/coach (forgot which one) said as soon as we hear our name called, we are going to walk out because we have unfinished business.
Just felt very staged/not authentic to me.
Then ESPN didn’t describe it very well. Not surprising since ESPN is in bed with the SEC.
Extremely disappointed with their seeding, the Huskies ignored the celebratory moment in protest of the selection.
After the NCAA Division I Softball Committee revealed that the Huskies — ranked fifth in the country in the USA Today/coaches poll — were seeded 16th in this year’s NCAA tournament, players walked out of the auditorium in utter revulsion.
The PAC-12 is the best softball conference in the nation. It’s completely bizarre.
Yeah it's possible.
The way it was described on the clip was that they talked about how they were going to react when their name was called, and (I think) one of the players said let's just walk out because we have unfinished business.
IF they were pissed because of the seeding, for sure- but the way ESPN described it was totally different than what you describe lol
That's not how they described it. For further context this was the last region announced so they knew they were seeded 16 and below multiple teams they finished ahead of in the PAC-12 before it was announced.
If I could rewind this, I would.
But I literally heard the announcers say that one of the players told their team when watching that clip, "When we hear our name announced, we are just going to walk out."
I'm not sure how else to explain it other than I'm hearing things?
Yes, because they knew the seeding was bullshit.
OK- so let me try this again.
While watching the game today, they cut to the clip of the announcement being made. PER THE BROADCAST, they said something to the effect of, "Washington decided that before the announcement was made, they were going to walk out of the room, regardless of where they were seeded."
I fully understand that they likely walked out because the seed sucked; HOWEVER, the broadcast completely described it in another way, which is the origin of my opinion about that being silly.
They didn't decide it BEFORE THE SELECTION SHOW STARTED. They decided it while sitting in the room because they already knew their seeding sucked since all the other seeds had been announced already.
0-0, top of 5th. Michigan on 2nd
Strands a runner on 3rd, bottom of 5th
It's great my TV has picture-in-picture.
Could softball borrow some of baseball's runs?
Omigosh. My points are at 1776.3. I feel so patriotic.
Storako's changeup is brutal.
0-0, top of 6th
Home RUN!!!! Blue takes the lead late!!
Lou Allen solo HR. 1-0 blue.
Sweet Lou Allen bomb!
1-0 MICHIGAN.
Crushed it!

GO BLUE!!!
Back to back HOMERS!!!! 2-0 Michigan!! Taylor Bump got this one...

Could someone please explain the stuffed snake(?)
I fucking love it but I don't know anything about our softball team and it's traditions
There's usually some new thing each year. This year it appears to be a snake.
Could be something new for the tournament. I haven’t seen it before today.
The stuffed snake is new but a couple of the games that I have seen they celebrate homers at home plate like Globo Gym in Dodgeball
So fun to watch.
Back 2 back jacks, Jack!
Dammit. Now its a home run hitting contest. Washington just jacked one, 2-1 Michigan...
UW solo HR makes it 2-1.
Struck her out! Three out of four batters were struck out in the 6th by Storako. Unfortunately, that 3rd batter hit a homer...
LFG!
