Helmet Stickers looking good!
Were bigger in 1993 than 2010? UM looks huge.
Need instant replay right there! Also, how crazy to see a game not in HD anymore, haha. I know that is a long time ago, but we are spoiled nowadays.
No way that was a touchdown.
I'm happy we can't see the happy trails anymore
Tyrone Wheatley - 15 carries, 235 yards, 1 TD
Those were the good old days.
Coming again soon.
Then Wheatley got hurt and didn't play in the 4th quarter and things got....
Uncomfortable. Truly the good old days as Michigan tried to run clock and make their lead stand up.
Didn't we come from behind in this game?
We came from behind after trailing 31-24 in the 3rd. Prior to that, it was a back and forth game. Although Washington got all the momentum going in to halftime from that phantom touchdown. There's some unwritten rule the college football GODS made where a horrible call has to go against us in the Rose Bowl, even when we win.
Rather than rely on my memory from 18 years ago, I reviewed the end of Wolverine Historian's 3 part youtube of the game. The 4th quarter started with game tied 31-31 and Wheatley out. Michigan scored to go up 38-31 with 5:29 remaining and then endured two Washington possession that ended on downs in Michigan territory.
I am too young to remember much of Wheatley, but from the replays I've seen of him he was a rare talent. To be as fast as he was at his size is pretty remarkable. 6-1 235 and a 4.4 40 yard dash. Michigan needs another RB like him. Easier said than done though.
And he was the Heisman favorite his senior year, but hurt his shoulder and missed a couple games.
This was a great Michigan win, made by a great Michigan Team. Wow were they stacked! And Tyrone's performance was one for the ages (up there with Biakabutuka's +300 yards against OSU 3 years later). The amazing thing about his rushing v Washington was that he didn't play the 4Q due to back spasms. My favorite run was the 2nd long TD run when he turned on the burners and outran 2 defenders who had the angle. In my book, Tyrone Wheatley is the best Michigan tailback.
He's certainly the best since Bo arrived. Maybe Harmon could compare, but different eras and all.
I have to drop a little MHSAA Track and Field knowledge. Tyrone Wheatley won the Class B State Title for Hamilton Robichaud by HIMSELF, winning the 100m, 200m, 110 hurdles and long jump.
Could you imagine this board seeing that on Whaetley's recruiting video?
was an absolute beast. I want another RB just like him.
He was Denard Robinson with 35 more pounds of muscle.
I was at that game. It's the first and only UM Bowl game I've been to, and they won it. I'm pretty sure the correlation between my presence and bowl wins is destinated to always be 1.000, but I can't find anyone who believes this enough to fund my trips every year.
O ye of little statistical faith, your stinginess disappoints me.
