$12M gift to UM Museum of Art
From the Lo family. Per the press release, they have a long history at UM and have made a lot of contributions in the past.

WTF. That's $12M that could have gone toward seeding an NIL fund.

So can UM's endowment. In fact, if Erik Lundberg convinced the UM trustees to spend 3% more of the university's endowment per year, no freshman students would need to take out financial aid.

This money will go towards hiring an army of minions to right-click and save all the important NFTs to university hard drives.

Good for them. Good for the Museum. Good for the Michigan community.

What makes this art as opposed to something with literary or historical significance?

Those aren't mutually exclusive concepts.

We reached a new Lo.

So between that donation and mine the Museum of Art has $12,000,010 to work with. An average of over $6M from two donors.

Very cool to see a family with so many connections to the University of Michigan, honoring their alma mater in this way.

I visited the Museum of Art when I was a freshman. When I was a junior I read that only two out of five graduating seniors had visited the Museum of Art. I thought to myself "Fuck, now I have a two out of five chance of graduating."
Edit: Clicked and read the article. It was very heart warming. Always nice to see people give back to those who helped them. Great family legacy with UM.
