...are looking a gift horse in the mouth with their treatment of Woodley.  Oh, how I'd love for the Redskins to sign him when he becomes a free agent.  Better yet, Woodley and Harris.

Could Woodley sit this season out and wait for the CBA to be renegotiated?  If I was him my biggest fear would be that I play and get seriously injured.  Then not only do I not get franchised, I lose serious market value because of the injury and miss out on a lot of guaranteed money I'd get with a new contract from another team.  If he sits out the year, next year he gets franchised (assuming that still exists), or he gets a big new contract from a new team.

It's bullshit that he's willing to kill himself on the field for the Steelers in the upcoming season, but if he gets injured, they aren't going to reward him for his performance up until now.

more than 30% increase from base salary due to CBA rules.  He's essentially stuck with lower base salary that does not match his productivity which is part of the reason why you don't want to sign a long term rookie contract if you're not a 1st rounder.

There is no way he ends up staying in Pittsburgh if he becomes a free agent. Seems like it would be in their best interest to rework his contract with an extension and pay him what he deserves.

The Steelers always let their stars walk and let other teams fork over the big paydays. Its been this way the whole time free agency has been in existence. Yet, they keep winning. We'll see what happens here.
