TomVH: Sean Duggan Update
St. Xavier LB Sean Duggan is on his way home from his trip to Michigan. His Dad couldn't make the trip, but his Mom and Uncle (who's the equipment manager for the Detroit Lions) came.
Sean first told me he didn't have words to describe the visit. He said everything about it was awesome. They first toured the normal buildings, academic center, and the Big House. Sean and his family said they were in awe. He couldn't believe the size, and how nice it was. He was trying to compare it to his current field in high school, which holds 10,000 people. It seems like everything really blew them away. They got a chance afterwards to eat some local food, and take in campus.
They then met with the coaches. Greg Robinson sat with them, and talked about his experience, and why he liked Michigan. Sean and his family were very impressed that Rich Rodriguez actually sat with them for an hour to talk about everything.
He told me his Mom loved everything she saw, and so did Sean. Before this visit Sean didn't know too much about Michigan, but this visit vaults them into his top three.
I'm on my phone, so forgive me if there's any errors.
Did they go for the deep dish at Pizza House, the bacon and peppercorn burger with count twists at Charlies, or slum it up with the chipati from Pizza Bob's? Stilton fires and a cask ale for Uncle at Ashleys? Inquiring minds want to know!
I'm planning a trip to AA in August. I haven't been there since I was in junior high and I thought of posting a thread for suggestions as the trip drew closer. This is a great start. Thanks.
Also, I'm very hungry now.
...for threads discussing things to do and places to eat in A2. There are several and each thread provides a ton of great tips.
Now that I think about it, this might be a good idea for the User Curated HOF. I'm on it.
[Edit: Done, enjoy.]
I'd give my first born son for a whole Favorite right now...
I was an intramural sports employee and probably ate 3 meals a week from Bob's (good ol' athletic dept discount if you got it delivered to the IM Bldg). Always preferred their non-pretentious chipati to the Pizza House version, although I'd strangle a kitten for either one delivered to me in SW Ohio right now....
great milkshakes, very mediocre pizza IMO.
...to describe Tom VH's recruiting prowess.
With everything that's going on, I'm continually impressed with the coaching staff's effort in recruiting and their ability to do it well.
Bring on the LBs, please.
Did he say when he was planning on making his decision?
Any idea which LB spot the coaches see him playing at Michigan? I can't imagine it would be the Roh LB considering the massive amount of other recruits/committs we have from last year's class and this year's class at that position: Rogers, Ryan, Beyer just to name a few...
He's definitely an inside linebacker. I'd guess MIKE.
Aren't chipatis at Pizza House too?
sauce is better at Bob's in my opinion.. slightly runnier.. the Pizza House sauce is a little on the thick side, which is ok if you like it with the thicker pita bread at Pizza House as well. I always preferred the Pizza Bob's diced veggies and shredded lettuce version to the sliced veggie strip and leaf lettucce version at Pizza House. Charlie's had a decent one too, but it was more like Pizza House's. And I didn't think Charlie's chipati sauce was up to the task.
More linebackers please. Another great update, Tom.
It would be exciting to see a guy like Sean come to Michigan. As an ex-Bomber, I can assure you that players coming from that program will never be out of position and will always be the most intelligent people on the field. Luke Kuechly, the stud LB at Boston College, is epitome of what St. X produces--guys with not quite the physical tools you look for in elite prospects but the willingness to work hard and have an endless motor.
Tom--has Michigan been talking to his teammate Steven Daniels? I know I may seem like a bit of a homer here but I thought Daniels was more impressive on film. He plays the "adjuster" position in X's 3-3-5 which is reserved year-in and year-out for the most talented defender on the team. I bet he'll be a solid contributor wherever he goes to college.
UM has absolutely been in touch with Daniels. No offer yet, I think he might be on the "second tier" with Ed Davis, in that he may get an offer if the Plan A guys (Grant, Dawson, etc) go elsewhere.
As of right now, it sounds like that second-tier Ed Davis may be very close to an offer.
Daniels visited Ann Arbor in the fall, but he's a definite back-burner prospect for now.
Great news, he definitely could be a good linebacker. Need to get him here for some games next fall.
I read that this kid took a vist this week, sounds like we impressed him. Is ohio state going TO offer, what do you think TomVH
