Game Day Weather

Submitted by mgoweather on November 3rd, 2023 at 11:58 AM

Another night game! Luckily we aren't looking at the weather we had on Halloween, we'll have a much less scary Saturday! A weak cold front coming through will keep temperatures a tad cooler than normal and we'll see some clouds stick around for the start of the weekend. A few sprinkles are possible but most will remain dry. Winds won't be too bad either. Enjoy your day and get ready to turn up Saturday night as we cheer on our guys against Purdue! Let's go blue!

Tailgating

If you're turning this into an all-day event - you can do it, you get an extra hour on Sunday! - our sun comes up shortly after 8am. We won't see a lot of it, just a little here and there between the clouds. Temperatures to kick off our game day will be in the low 40s, which isn't bad considering we should be in the mid 30s. After a breezy day Friday winds will be light and variable throughout the morning. By lunchtime we're around 50 degrees, topping out in the low 50s for the afternoon. Not a bad afternoon to mix up some fun drinks and bring out the games at the tailgate tent! Winds will be generally light through the afternoon, if anything up to around 5mph out of the NE, just enough to rustle the leaves. At this point, so many of our leaves are on the ground it'll be a crunchy walk in to the stadium! You might catch a few sprinkles but the chance for rain is small. Keep in mind the sun sets just before 6:30pm so it'll start to get dark quickly as you're packing up your tailgate! The temps will slowly drop throughout the game so you might want to grab the jacket, too, even if it's just something to sit on for the first half.

Kickoff

Mostly cloudy to overcast skies are expected for the start and first half of the game. We're heading into the stadium at 48 degrees with a NE wind around 5mph. With a 6:26pm sunset and a 7:30pm start it'll be plenty dark enough for those lights to really shine!

Halftime

Dropping a couple of degrees by mid game. We'll still have plenty of clouds in place with that light wind. The halftime show Saturday is What a Wonderful World, and that it is!! Are you getting tired at all? Wishing you had done a recliner-gate instead of the early tailgate party? Well grab some chicken tenders or a burger and remind yourself this is the last home game before Ohio State - get amped up and get back out there ready to cheer loudly for the second half!

Post-Game

Another win under the stars (well, clouds actually, but you get it)! We're starting to drop into the low 40s by the time we're making the trek back to the car. Winds will be very light, northerly, hardly even noticeable. If you're going out to celebrate, woo-hoo we get an extra hour! We'll fall back just in time to keep those lights off for another hour. Friendly reminder if you're doing some extra celebrating to set up a ride home sometime in that last hour! We'll turn partly cloudy into the early morning hours Sunday, giving way to a brighter beginning to the second half of the weekend. Near 40 Sunday morning before highs near 50 as you go to pick up your car from your Saturday night spot. We'll see increasing clouds Sunday but not bad driving weather if you traveled for this game. Go blue!!!

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!!

The fog is pretty thick right now in northern Kent County. Hopefully it lifts fairly soon.

In the meantime, safe travels to everyone ---slow down just a bit and arrive safely in Ann Arbor.
