Ohio State and, to a lesser extent, Notre Dame continue to carve into Michigan's lead in the recruiting rankings, with each school getting big-time commits this week. The middle of the pack is slowly taking shape as well, while the bottom four teams continue to boast just three combined commitments. Changes since the last rankings:

4-22-12: Iowa picks up Nathan Bazata.
4-23-12: Ohio State picks up Joey Bosa and Lewis Neal. Iowa picks up Brant Gressel.
4-26-12: Notre Dame picks up Mike Heuerman. Illinois picks up Aaron Bailey.
4-27-12: Iowa picks up John Kenny.
4-29-12: Wisconsin picks up Rob Wheelwright.

Why is Nebraska ranked ahead of MSU if Sparty has more commits? Is it purely by number of commits at this point, or is there a formula that takes average star ranking and number into account?

I tell you what I'm most impressed with- Nebraska has done a pretty seemless job transitioning into recruiting the Midwest. Like the rest of the Big 12 they REALLY floated on Texas talent, but they've clearly done a good job parlaying their reputation into Midwest talent.

With two nationally top ten recruiting classes, it's not just a Big Ten or regional title Michigan is competing for. It's a possible national championship.

Why not a comparison as well with national leaders for the 2013 class and whether key positions are filled, why the talent is going where it's going, etc.

It wasn't really made clear, but as we learned from the Dunn situation last year, Urban doesn't want to deal with players who commit and then want to visit other schools. Most likely rumor is, with Neal's offer from LSU coming today, he suggested intent to visit and Urban told him that it pretty much deemed his recruiting open again.
