WTKA Roundtable 6/8/2023: Can't Win Without a Guy From Finland
Things Discussed:
- Josh Wallace: David Long but normal speed.
- Olivier Nkamhoua: The *Perfect* pickup for them. Sucks that they couldn't add him to Dickinson but he's exactly what they need to reshape this into a switchable defense, and can score and pass.
- Big Ten scheduling: Will announce today that they're going to a flex model with no divisions. Possibility of playing OSU 3x/year. Craig hates being locked in with MSU but we're stuck with them. Brian hates night games. Seth hates replays and advocates again for the Showcase idea where you play the best games that weren't played. Sam thinks this is just a stopgap because they wanted to get rid of divisions that put Purdue in the championship game, and they're not done adding teams. This system won't last more than a year or two.
- Will USC play Michigan? When you join the Big Ten, you get to play Michigan. When Penn State joined the Big Ten, they got to play Michigan. When Michigan State joined the Big Ten, they got to play Michigan. When they formed the Big Ten, it was so Chicago could play Michigan.
- Lionel Messi. Brian has advice for the women of Miami.

There are plenty of volunteers and Zion Williamson knows them all.
We need to add "mentions of the Showcase idea" into the Seth drinking game. Side note - I think it's a great idea!
Tervetuloa Olivier! Hyva Suomi!
Divisionless Big 10 sucks. Diluting the best rivalry in all of sports. Absolutely laughable. Bad for the big 10. Bad for football.
"The country where I quite want to be."
"David Long but normal speed."

I'm with Craig: skip MSU as a rival, and kudos to UM's near-national champion tennis player Styler.
LOL, Brian's US soccer developmental program is brilliant!
I don't understand the desire to stop playing MSU. If we hate them, shouldn't we want to beat them every year? Is the concern about our players staying healthy? The attack last year was egregious, but I don't think there's any evidence that will keep happening.
I feel like it's one of the most significant games of the year - why would we want to replace with with a nothing game against another middling big ten team?
