Analysis: Michigan picked up right where they left off on Friday, over whelming and outskating the Ice Devils getting 13 shots in the first period –including a couple of Grade A chances…but just could not beat Cole Brady. The Wolverines all but took the second period off, barely threatening the Ice Devil net…until extremely late in the period, when Captain Jack finished a sweet dish from Granowicz in the slot. In the third period, Michigan picked it up and got plenty of chances to win the game, but Cole Brady had a great game and denied every one of them. ASU did turtle a bit, late, protecting their hot goaltender, and it worked. Michigan completely overwhelmed the Ice Devils but could not outscore them.

Analysis: Michigan protected Strauss Mann well, all night. The Ice Devils got very few pucks through…and even fewer from high danger areas. Once again, the defense did their job, tonight. Not much else to say.

Analysis: Michigan had three chances on the power play, this evening, and they seemed to get better as they went along. Cole Brady made a few tough saves and Blankenburg drew the bar an a great walk-in look. Overall, though, Michigan was unlucky to not score. They moved the puck better and created dangerous looks. Sometimes a goalie has an A+ game…with a little Iron Luck.

Michigan gave the Ice Devils three chances as well on the man advantage. Aside from one shot hitting the post and Mann making a nice save, the Wolverines had better opportunities short-handed than ASU did with an extra attacker.

Analysis: Strauss Mann started in net. He faced three whole shots in the opening frame. While not facing too many more in the second stanza, he was forced into a couple of tough save and covers and did so nicely. Late in the period, a shot from the point hit Cam York in the slot and tucked itself inside the near post. Insanely unlucky. The Ice Devils have now had two of the most ridiculous goals of the season in back to back nights. In the final period at OT, Strauss saw 3 more shots. He did his job, tonight, despite it not involving doing a whole lot.

Analysis: After creating six OMRs on Friday night, the Wolverines struggled to get much going in transition on Saturday. KJ started with a 3v2, but it took so long to develop that it ended up as a 3v3…and the shot was right into Brady. That was about it for Michigan.

Owen Power fumbled the puck at the blue line and the Ice Devils got a breakaway…but the shot was high and wide. That was all for them, tonight.

Wolverine In Exile

Still should be OK for tourney wise... we were #7 going into weekend:

#6 St Cloud State lost to #10 UMnDuluth

#8 BU split

#9 UMass won both, one in OT

#10 UMnDuluth beat #6 StCldSt

#11 UNO lost to #2 NoDak

I'd expect a slight slip in rankings to #8 or so, still well within tourney at-large selection. Win 2 out 3 against Minn, Minn , & Mich St and we're for sure in.
