The Matt & Seth Show: A Tale of Man and Mesh Comment Count

Seth November 8th, 2023 at 5:00 PM

Matt Demorest, Realtor and Lender and I have brought back our (sometimes-)weekly video short. The purpose of these is to show you something on film that you as a fan will be able to pick up on when you see it in the future. This week's a good one, as we start talking about the different ways Michigan used motion and alignment to put Purdue defenders in spots where they were going to lose their man-to-man matchups massively. In the process we break down how Mesh works.

If you're in the housing market, Matt's the guy.

There is nothing after the jump because it's video content.

That 30 yard deep safety is so hilarious to me.  You're basically admitting that your man coverage is going to get beat and that guy is there to prevent 50 yard gains from turning into 60 yard TDs.  It's like someone made a 'bend but don't break' philosophy out of sugar cane (famous for being really bendy).  He's there to keep a 15 yard run from becoming a 50 yard run.  A Denard run offense would eat up this type of D all day with a two man numbers advantage on every run.  It only slightly works if you've got jimmy's and joe's that can win one-on-one matchups.  Purdue ain't got that.

Seth, that's awesome that you are are volunteering for elections.

I've been an election volunteer for years (mostly as legal election protection volunteer, but I've also been involved in machine inspections and a little bit of everything else).

Its decidedly unglamorous, but important work.  Thank you.

Enjoyed this illustrated presentation re the Purdue game.  I had good seats and could see that Michigan's pre-snap motion was creating great passing opportunities against Purdue's man coverage. Thanks Seth for explaining the details.

I just want to say how awesome Seth is.  It’s not just his great analysis of game tape.  It’s more his pure joy as a Michigan fan.  Like his holding the banner.  Tell us the story of how you were selected to hold the banner.

But most of all it’s about how authentic Seth is.  Thanks Seth
