AP reporter Larry Lage is, uh, reporting that ND is taking the money and running:

#NotreDame has notified #Michigan it is exercising a 3-year out in their contract, meaning their last scheduled game will be in 2014.

This is good news for insane people who hate easy road trips and competitive games with glitz disproportionate to the teams participating recently. For me, it is sad. Maybe they'll patch it up at some point in the future.

Michigan now has to scramble for a legit opponent in 2015 and 2016, but at least they can go into that looking for someone who wants a home game in odd-numbered years to help offset the Nebraska/OSU games.

All of this is the Longhorn Network's fault, of course.

My preference for non conference scheduling would be:

1 Game vs a Baby Seal

1 Game vs a Directional Michigan (might be the same as Baby Seal, some years may be an easy win but not a clubbing)

1 Game vs a good team that we should beat (like Air Force or Utah or a middling BCS program that goes 7-5 every year)

1 Game vs a powerhouse that GameDay will be in attendence, national TV game that everyone is excited about (e.g. Alabama, LSU, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, FSU).

I don't want to completely lose the ND series but I would like to see other teams rotate into our schedule.

So happy for the fact that I only need to see 1 more Michigan game televised by NBC.

I'm upset for no reason, ND v M has been great since I've been alive, but honestly. Gotten tired of the series, every year bla bla bla blahhhhhh about ND & how great they used to be and the prox to the B1G and they should just join.

Notre Dame good luck in your future endevours playing gridiron teams -  Maryland, north carolina, GT, duke, nc state, u of v and wf. Welcome to the land of nobody's watching. Can't t wait for the the god awful ACC channel to start talking about how ND will bring a touch of class and a national power to the conference, oooh wait football didn't join. oh well have fun playing down there in august  and september.

Wasn't Brandon handed an envelope by the ND AD with this announcement in it just before this last game?

Pimp Hand needs to open next year's game at midfield by announcing that THIS is the last game, here, in Ann Arbor, in 2013, and that ND will be replaced in 2014 by Appalachian State.

After that, schedule home and homes with mostly west and south teams like Georgia and UCLA.  I wouldn't mind going to Norman to watch a game.

I'm so sick of ND.
