DJ Waller Jr. Has Committed To Michigan
In a weekend filled with portal news for the Michigan Football team, they also picked up a class of 2023 commitment from DB D'Juan (DJ) Waller Jr.:

Waller hails from Youngstown and is a teammate of Michigan commit Jason Hewlett at Chaney HS. Waller checks in at roughly 6'3" and ~195 lbs., marketed as a DB who is a bit of a tweener between CB and S. Like Hewlett and fellow 2023 commit Breeon Ishmail, Waller is another stab-in-the-dark type prospect, with his 247 composite ranking being outside the top 1,000, although some sites have him far higher. He will be an interesting Hello to get to in a couple days.

I'm not sure I know what's going on with that green thing on the top, but it sure is festive!

Last week’s recruiting/NIL critique was a little premature.

Maybe. But it's not like we are beating out OSU, Clemson, and Alabama for a few of these recruits.
December 18th, 2022 at 10:32 PM ^
Well, actually, since they're signing with us and not those schools, we are!

And there are 12-2 and 13-0 reasons, among others that declares that the recruiting path being chosen here by Michigan is valid. There is clearly great value in picking off late rising athletes from late in their senior season. These young men have adequate talent and are resilient and committed-very coachable. And here, relative to the "elite" 5 stars that choose OSU-who are entitled prima donnas and coasting on their physical abilities but who are either uncoachable or the coaching staff is afraid of instructing them...these rising three stars are both willing and able to improve themselves-and put the ascension and well-being of the team first. The benefits in this regard seem to be greatly misunderstood and underappreciated-by most.

Dude…
It’s “Pre-Madonna”

Seems like Harbaugh is taking fliers on lower ranked croots to get his foot in the door in Ohio for next year. That and the 2023 class being more akin to a development/depth class than early contributors given the NIL/off-season changes.

"Fliers" seems pretty disrespectful to both the players and the staff. How many fliers going to the NFL does it take to inform this fan base of the realities that are in play here??? Bringing these young men in has nothing to do with getting a foot in the door-they are expected to contribute to the winning of games.

Sorry I didn’t mean it to be coming off that way. Obviously the staff does its internal evals and comes to their own conclusions. I would just figure either these croots are late risers or the staff has struck out on their primary targets or we’d be seeing this commits be earlier to Michigan rather than flips etc. or they’re late risers.

Does Jim have an Halo over his head? He might as well after the last two seasons.

Seems like a high upside S to allow to develop behind last years super class.

King, I like your analogy. Lots of potential at safety waiting to get on the field. A couple years of coaching and weight training, DJ could be a solid player 👍
Welcome young man 😊

Love his size. Guessing he will develop into a safety. Welcome DJ

with harbaugh 6'4" that's a legit 6'3"

A kid who played Corner with the growth potential to be a Big Safety or a WILL Linebacker? I really like what Harbaugh is doing with this class. We are quietly building a big, fast, versatile and physical defense. Add Hill and Moore and you're cooking with some serious gas. Ishmail, Waller, Koumba, Bahr, and Hewlett all have growth potentials for positions that they aren't ranked at.

definitely big, likely versatile. time will tell if these guys have the speed
