Ding, Dong
Vest in peace.
Hasta la vesta, baby!
Thanks, Twitter.
In celebration, I'm going to go tan on Elbel field, while staring at the Big House and thinking, "soon". Federal holidays, yeah!
About f'in time. It sure would have been nice to beat him, but since we couldn't, I'll take getting him out any way I can. So long to the worst decade of being a UM fan I've seen in my lifetime.
Has not been so enjoyable to watch since January 2, 1998.
Was having lunch with friends in a deserted Ann Arbor restaurant yesterday and said of the OSU situation, "The fish are beginning to rot." But I didn't know it would happen this fast.
I would rather not gloat over the demise of an enemy. I'd rather reflect on what happens to a program, a university, a fan base that loses its balance and resorts to winning at all costs - and that equates college football with life itself. There is a direct link between photos of a Bucknuts fan father-and-son, both in buckeye nut necklaces, weeping piteously after an upset loss, to the kind of revelations that are only beginning to come out.
Be satisfied that justice is apparently being done. But be vigilant not to lose our balance so that we don't fall as well.
Ding, Dong, the ghost of Bo Schembechler said it is time for Brian to be "shiny and friendly" toward Brady Hoke.
Musberger on the ESPN clip "I would have been proud to have my son play for Tressel" ... "... I am sure Tressel got a very nice severance" .... "I would like to see him catch on at the next level..."
Herbie ".,...Nothing personal ever against Tressel, just a withholding of information."
I am disgusted at the moral equivocation of the media. Musberger, bum.
At least Musberger compared Tressel to that other great American of deception Richard M. Nixon, so he can't be all that bad. And remeber that Nixon had some major foreign policy accomplishments. But would you want your son to work for Nixon?
Just got back from a family trip - figured it would happen sometime, but kind of a wussy way out to announce on Memorial Day when people are out. Still, saw some very funny takes at a couple of sites following the story:
Deadspin - "The resignation is almost done; they just have to dot the i's."
and
Not sure where, maybe deadspin or espn - Seems appropos that Tressel announced his resgination on a weekend that goes for 3.
Should be interesting to see how this affects recruiting, as I'm sure his resignation will have an effect on who decides to honor his oral commitments and/or sign with OSU. If I'm OSU, though, I'm probably telling whoever is willing to listen that Meyer (or someone of that stature) is the next coach they will seek out, lest they want to lose a significant number of kids who weren't envisioning playing for a temporary coach who is then replaced by someone like Dantonio or "semi-hot defensive coordinator" de-jeur.
This is most definitely a triple double day. It may even be a quadruple double.
We do NOT want Ohio State missing a bowl this season. That would mean the sanctions came very quickly. In terms of recruiting, the slower the better.
I don't want Fickell sitting in Adolphus Washington's living room and saying "Yes, we have a bowl ban but it will never affect you."
now officially worn out.
If this SI article never comes out - OR if it ends up being disappointing, I'm going to feel like this...
Obviously Tressel's sketchy behavior didn't begin with TP, but boy did that kid drag his coach down with him.
It's been said before, but it needs being said again: as painful and embarrassing as the past 3 years have been, I am very, very glad he did not come to Michigan, and that instead we got a humble kid with strong ethics as our quarterback.
Bucknuts is reporting that TP showed up to practice yesterday in a Nissan 300Z with temporary tags! Everyday there is further evidence that all things happen for a reason...TP goes to OSU instead of M, and assists with the implosion of their program.
