OT - Shannon out at Miami
Miami's Rivals site is reporting Randy Shannon and staff will be fired tomorrow. Generally these Rivals sites are pretty good about being on this kind of stuff.
I wasn't going to post this here but this gives me a bit more confidence, so take a rumor FWIW: Talked to a well-connected alum today who was extremely confident not only that Jim Harbaugh would be hired as the next coach of Michigan, but that Rich Rodriguez would be taking his talents to South Beach. I'm still not overwhelmingly confident, but this is certainly an interesting development. We'll see how this thing plays out I suppose.

You are right...
Though I like to think that if he was on any radar for Miami, he'd be mentioned by someone.

If you go back and read the comments on MGo the day before we hired RR, you would not say that. People were discussing FCS coaches and Ron English.

This is completely off topic, but I about shit my pants when I saw your avatar. Another cycling fan on here!
And yeah, you both have a point here really. If a Michigan donor/alum flapped his mouth about it, I can't see something similar happening at Miami.

I want to hear it cross referenced from a confidential well connected Miami alum source.

I wish we could set odds and bet on these rumors. I'd give 50-1 on this coming out as true. Jamiemac?

...that, among others, Brandon needed to consult with alumni and boosters, I just about threw up. Why on earth do boosters need to be asked one god damned question what their opinion is on who should be coach? Because they donate money? This is why our government is fucked up: big time campaign donors have bought it. Is that what our Michigan is turning into? I thought we were about honor and integrity. If we start cow-towing to the boosters, that's what SEC/SWC schools do/did.
Fuck the boosters. If they're not going to donate to their university's athletic program b/c they don't like the coach, they can GTFO. My Michigan does things the right way, and if people want to be a part of that, great. If not, fine. Just don't think you can start flashing your gold card around and think that makes you part of the club. If your loyalty wavers, you aren't Michigan. It isn't if you went to school here, how big your yacht is, or what regent you're buddies with.
Brandon needs to go through a rational process, and I hope to god that doesn't include talking to boosters. If it does, then the great respect I have for him will do a 180. Rapidly.

Weird.

I don't know, is it your bad?

Also, when do we start calling up Miami recruits to see how they are doing?
November 28th, 2010 at 9:51 AM ^
Outside of Teddy Bridgewater and Anthony Chickillo, I don't think we've ever even been in contact with their other commits. Outside of that, I'm not sure there are really any other recruits that this will help us with either, if anything it'll push them to FSU/UF.

they expect me to believe that not only is richrod out but that he has already accepted a job with miami not 24 hours after our last game? that is horsesh*t

This reminds me a lot of a post that was made a few weeks ago where someone posted they talked to a "well-connected" ND alum at a party who said, 100% certain, that Kelly would be fired the next day over the young man who died in the crane accident.
Kelly is still ND's coach.
I don't place much credence in rumors where "well-connected" alums are the source.
That said, I actually think this is more plausible than I thought the other rumor about Kelly being fired from ND was.
Given RR's record at Michigan, my guess is he wouldn't be able to get the same salary he got from us a couple years ago. Miami could probably pick him up at a huge discount.
Miami is still a sexy brand to Florida recruits. Plus..... it's in Mami Fantastic weather, great beaches, hot women... If you're an athletic Florida kid, going to play in RR's spread offense at Miami is an offer that'd be tough to refuse. RR would win multiple national titles at Miami. As another poster said, Miami would end up being Oregon southeast.
I hope it doesn't happen. I want RR at Michigan.
