Gameday Picks UM in a Close One
Because people tend to love knowing such things...
Herbstreit, Desmond and Corso all picked UM. Defense appears to be the focus and Howard did a great job of showing missed assignments on UConn dropped balls. Interview with Denard revealed that he didn't know he had ran so many times, nor that he "had done that well," not to mention the record. Weather appears to be drizzly but nothing outrageous. Should Robinson lead UM to victory, it will be the first time a first year starter for Michigan has been able to pull off the feat in South Bend. Apparently Kelly has been using a 5th year senior Gallup to simulate Denard but "there's no way to simulate 4.3/4.4 speed." As they mentioned, running backs may be the deciding factor because Shaw and Smith will have to pick up some blitzes and run great games to take the pressure off the qb.
Go Blue, Beat Notre Dame
edit: Bowden also selects UM, "team speed" considered by Gameday to be UM's advantage

I was about to write the same topic...nice job! Thanks!

I dont understand the MSM. Fowler just said that the Alabama students dont remember when ND/Michigan was relevant for the national championship. Was 06 that long ago or is it just me.

Sad part is, it's just not him. I hear it so often that I forget who else said it.

The way I read it was that Michigan and ND have been relevant in the talk for the MNC for a long time. I know we have been relevant except for '06.

Bama Students aren't that bright, but most of them still in school in 2006 should have graduated by now.

darn it that is the kiss of death with corso picking us
September 11th, 2010 at 11:34 AM ^
he called it an upset despite UM receiving more AP votes so he could be wrong about his prediction and still have Michigan win.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:39 AM ^
That comment pissed me off. Seriously, they don't even pay attention to the media poll. Whatever, ESPN is not a source of sports facts.

in which ND is favored by 4 or thereabouts.
I was also annoyed that Fowler kept referring to Michigan's offensive performance in South Bend in 2008. In what was does this offense resemble that year's offense?
September 11th, 2010 at 11:34 AM ^
He picked us last week, too.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:36 AM ^
Also Lou picked us, and that was it. I think everyone else picked against us.
September 11th, 2010 at 12:04 PM ^
Wait? Holtz picked UM? I just worked under the assumption he picked ND to win every game including the Ohio State-Miami game.
September 11th, 2010 at 12:24 PM ^
I think he means last week.
September 11th, 2010 at 12:33 PM ^
Thanks, I was mentioning last week. Almost everyone seems to be picking us this week.

For all anyone knows that mushmouth was asking for some M&M's.

Should Robinson lead UM to victory, it will be the first time a freshman starter for Michigan has been able to pull of the feat.
Huh? Wasn't Tate a freshman starter last year who pulled off the feat? Or did you mean to include an "in South Bend" qualifier?
September 11th, 2010 at 11:42 AM ^
going into South Bend, last year we played in A2
September 11th, 2010 at 11:45 AM ^
I'm guessing you mean first year starter, Denard's a sophomore.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:48 AM ^
fixed that and the "in South Bend" element
September 11th, 2010 at 11:44 AM ^
to see what actually happens on the field. Go Blue!

On being concerned about the number of carries
"Got Barwis working me out, getting bigger so I think I can take a pounding."

I think we did what we needed to do against UConn - RR will have some looks for ND they haven't seen yet.
September 11th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
I thought the same thing. It didn't seem like RR opened up the playbook very much last week. Denard was able to do a lot on his own. We'll see what RR has up his sleeve today. I think we see a big game out of Smith and Koger today.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:57 AM ^
Fowler also managed to call Roundtree "Ray".
September 11th, 2010 at 12:05 PM ^
Yah, that made me snicker.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:59 AM ^
I want to know who Big Boi is picking since he was almost perfect last week.
September 11th, 2010 at 12:03 PM ^
said he is drinking the Maize and Blue kool aid right now.
Now I want him to choke on it. !
September 11th, 2010 at 12:03 PM ^
Bobbeh Bowden also picks us to win. Said it simply: "Game is a toss-up." Not surprisingly, I'm not sure what to expect out of this game. I can see both teams putting up 40 points, but with the weather, who knows? I am very superstitious, so I normally abstain from making predictions. Same goes for today, hahaha. GO BLUE!
September 11th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
....along with ball security will be what helps UM beat Notre Dame today.

I agree with them. Won't be close tho. Got a real good feeling again this week.
