Capacity of the stadium with renovations

Submitted by Quail2theVict0r on

So I did a little calculation based on the quote from the MgoBlue article on the new stadium rennovations released today.

In addition, there is added seating on both the east and west side of the stadium. The west side will feature 650-plus chairback seats and 46 suites split across the first two levels. On the east side, there will be around 1,900 outdoor club seats, 250 indoor club seats and 850 covered club seats, with stadium lounges on the first and second level of the structure. There will also be 36 suites on the third level. With the added seats, Michigan Stadium will become the largest college football venue in the country again.

So there are:

650 chair back seats
1900 club seats
250 indoor club seats
850 covered club seats
82 suites
=
2420 seats
82 suites

assuming there is about 15 people per suite - that's 1230 seats in the suites

total that should add 3650 seats to the stadium.

Take our regular stadium capacity, 107,501, means that we're left with a total capacity of around 111,151 or using the 106,201 number: 109,851.

**This number will go down when they widen the seats**

I found that the suites have 16 in each.  There is also only 81 suites now but that is because one donor asked for 2 suites but with no wall between which really doesn't change your numbers but 2 other suites are also at least double the size of a normal suite (one being for the President of the University and one being for the AD).  So I am sure this adds at least a hundred to your count.

The info for the 81 suites and larger suites was in the dreaded Freep.  I think that was the first time I read the Freep since last August but I only did it because of the exclusive article about the stadium which can be found on the second link below.  The first link below states the 16 tickets per suite number.
