Tom Lemming on DPJ and Oliver Martin

Submitted by Blue in Paradise on
Tom Lemming told The Wolverine that he thought DPJ could be the next great Michigan 2 way player as he thinks he could be a great cornerback in addition to WR. I thought that was interesting as it is the first time I have heard someone mention DPJ as a 2 way guy. If nothing else, could be good insurance if injuries strike our secondary. He also stated that Oliver Martin could end up as the top WR in the 2017 class nationally. Yes, please... He also discussed a few more of our commits. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-wolverine-podcast/id799645891?m… Interesting that this guy made college football recruiting a Thing but you don't actually here his name mentioned that much anymore.

But with as much talent as Michigan is bringing in on both sides of the ball, we are beginning to have playmakers at most positions that use 2-Way players. Therefore, there is no need to have any of the players focus on any position but the one the coaches feel they are the best at. There are few if any elite teams these days that have 2-way players anymore.

I think Nico Collins may end up emerging as the true star out of the receivers. His quickness for that size is what stands out to me.

Michigan and number one WRs from Iowa: Adrian Arrington, Amara Darboh, Oliver Martin.  Looking back at it on 247, Iowa has usually a only one 4 star player per year. Since 2000, about 6 have been WRs (1 was an Ath) and 3 of them have gone to Michigan.  Pretty good record there.

and I think that's why so many were willing to state they may have "underrated the player." But all the skills they mentioned, things he did better than anyone elese in this class were all traits of a great black wr., and inasmuch as Jerry Rice was not know for his speed, I don't see why there's a problem with making a comparison based on what we knew he had and what they say Olllie has.
