2017 Signing Day (evening open thread)

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

An eventful day to say the least!

The morning and afternoon open threads were both caught in the nuke that hit MGoBlog this afternoon reverting us back to yesteryear.

This should hold us over for the rest of the night.

Eh, they're rankings. It's just a timing thing: USC had a bunch of guys that it led for wait until signing day to announce. We only had four guys we were in on, and the two guys we actually felt good about pulled the trigger.

Our class score would have finished third last year. Meanwhile we got to go through today already assured of a great class. I'm fine with this.

At the Signing of the Stars event. This guy looks like a linebacker. He passes the eyeball test. Also, what he says speaks of toughness. He looked like hexwas looking around Crisler for someone to hit. With a 400 lb bench press and 247 pounds, he is physically ready to compete.

I did not follow much of the NSD.  Of the uncomitted recruits that we were rumored to be in on....

Solomon and Collins commits to UM.  Gay goes to Miss St.

^correct? thanks in advance.

I realize Martin verbaled yesterday or day before. I feel like I'm forgetting someone.

I counted 30 on that list - that's quite the haul. Very impressive when you see it all in one place like this.

Yeah, what happened to the other threads - well, we will build a memorial to the Great Reset on the spot where those threads once stood.

First, thanks for putting this together.  But as to the obligatory bits, I don't think we have any reason to beat up Michigan's fax.

Now up in E. Lansing, their fax machine did not treat them well.  That one is at serious risk.

I am really happy with our class this year.  Getting Solomon and Collins was huge, and I love the Robbins pickup.  This should help our program maintain an upward trajectory - great day for Michigan football.

With all the attention on Michigan's top 5 class, I hope we can all pause for a second to appreciate VT's position in this screenshot:

Michigan has a game scheduled with the Hokies in 2020, so clearly the only important takeaway from this is that Michigan will be competing against a decent group of athletes in that game years from now.  By then, 3-9 of this year's recruits will probably be in the NFL, but I still thought this research I uncovered was important to notify everyone about.

Pleased that we locked up the Mittens Best Talent MI (8), "The Best in Michigan go to Michigan" -DIB. Pleased to pull 8 from South, including GA AL TX. Pulled 8 from east coast. CT NJ VA RI Only 2 from OH n FL. Sprinkle in CO NM PA and Canada....2016 n 2017 Harbaugh Recruiting Classes Highest composite ever at M. Very Pleased. Only 1 QB Recruited, Made a deal to only do so with DM? M should be very attractive 2018 for OL RB QB.

Saw a tweet earlier today from a reporter that stated he's up to 285 now, and a 3 tech. This should help with the DT depth next year or 2.

With the site crash not sure if this had been mentioned or not.

It would have been great to get Wills and Leatherwood, but I think our 3 stars -- Steuber, Honigford and Hall -- are all solid and underrated.  I am not broken up at all about missing on Herbert and Becton.

I think the recruit I'm most excited about is Blavin Tunnel. I kept seeing his name during that Signing of the Stars show.
