Jake Rudock shines for Lions

Nice to see Jake Rudock completed 8-of-11 for 72 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion in his NFL debut with the Detroit Lions. Harbaugh!

Think about how much better the Lions would have been over the years if they had just drafted every decent Michigan QB to come along instead of the utter crap they have had at the position.

Harbaugh

Grbac

Colllins (was a solid backup for a decade and probably better than the Lions starters)

Griese

Brady

Yeah, probably not Navarre, sorry John

Henne?  Probably not vs. Stafford, but he has been a decent NFL QB)

Of course, once they had drafted Brady they could have stopped anyway, no offense to anyone else.

Those first 5 guys were available pretty deep into the draft, and ALL of them would have been light years better than the trash the Lions have run out there at QB for the last 30 years.   Has any pro team been more adverse to drafting good local talent just to spite itself?

Suppose Ruddock goes on to be a starter with a decent NFL career.  Who do you think he would attribute more of his development to: Ferentz who he spent 3 or whatever years before getting yanked for Beat Hard or Harbaugh??

If he was going to be drafted last year he probably would have went and tried so you would have to give much more credit to JH. Another point, if JH didn't come back to Michigan, Rudock would probably be in pre med but he has a very good chance at making a NFL roster which carries a minimum salary of 450 grand. Down the road, when he enrolls back in school, do you think having a few extra bucks in his pocket will be helpful? Think he's sending JH a Christmas card.... The bigger point is that these successes are going to breed more opportunities for recruiting the best pro style qb's out of HS. As most of you will agree, if you have a great qb, life is much better. Sorry for the long post, but this is the reason why we can be bullish on the future is bc JH is the BEST at developing qb's. Bottom line, if you had a son that wanted to play qb in the NFL, where would you send him?

As a life long cowboys fan (unfortunately), Jake is my opportunity to fully convert to lions fan! He will definitely benefit watching at first, but I think his work ethic will prevail and he could be ready if needed...Go Blue!
