I always liked him with the Lions growing up (of course, I grew up in SE Michigan, but my parents are from Ohio, so I liked him for other reasons back then) and I think he's one of their best color commentators. I think ESPN is really falling off a cliff now.

He was the most fun to listen to from the booth. He gets into the game and your can hear that enthusiasm in his voice.  Hopefully we will see him in the future.

I work at ESPN.  We really wanted to keep Tirico and Skip.  They got big offers from ESPN -- but amazingly huge set for life offers from NBC and Fox.   Nessler was close call -- he just picked CBS.  It happens.  All the others were just not renewed.  Not a cost issue per se, just an improve the broadcast call.
