OT Sanjay Gupta - Michigan Man
My wife and I were watching CNN Haiti coverage last night. They were covering a story where medical teams who had performed surgery on very sick people were loaded into buses and left the sick patients behind, presumably due to security considerations.

The only doc who hung around trying to take care of the sick was Sanjay Gupta, the CNN medical correspondent. Gupta went to Michigan for undergrad and med school and I believe he did his neurosurgery residency at Michigan. It is not the first time he has lent his skills to those in need. When Iraq was invaded, he lent his neurosurgical skills to the US military.
I have seen several instances over the last few days where Dr. Gupta switches roles from correspondent to doctor. Those of us with Michigan ties should be proud that Gupta is part of our family.

...well done Dr. Gupta. The best of us makes the rest of us look better. Keep up the good work!

It's good to be part of a quality family and people like Dr. Gupta remind us..

Gupta was also a member of the U of M Men's Glee Club.
Don't ask me how I know.

The team could use him to stop a few virulent offenses.

That's something else, because I heard even Tebow left.
In all seriousness, that's great to hear.

I'm not sure if he has season tickets or if he just flies up for some games, but I've seen him mention Michigan Football on air at least once.

I believe he does have season tickets. I remember hearing that at about the same time RichRod was hired.

Rajiv Shah, named by Obama to coordinate US-Haiti aid efforts, is a UM grad also (albeit MD from U-Penn Med School).

Good for them guys, it would be a capital sacrifice to spend your own time down there, something I'm not prepared to do. Hopefully the cash helps out and doesn't go to some losers coffer.

It's not just a song.
