homecoming activities?
Hey all,
I am coming to the game this weekend with my 8 year old son. I have the opportunity to come early and go to all the homecoming events. My question is:
What is there to do on the day before the game (particularly homecoming) that you enjoy? What will be good for a dad and son to do?
Thanks

Learn old and highly ridiculous chants. Does the awesome twirler former drum major still show up like he did when I was in school?

I attended a HC game was 2011, and he was there for that year IIRC. I believe he was there every year I attended as a student (2005 - 2011), and I'd love to see his enthusiasm unknown to mankind for twirling on the field this Saturday.

I was at that game. And the crowd loved him.
The friends I was sitting with that day were in the MMB with him in the early 90's and they told me he had the reputation for being a tool. But he puts on a good show. So he has that going for him.

I know there are some David Foster Wallace fans around here. He wrote a very funny piece on twirling and there's a video on Youtube of him reading it.

Well, that's a weird twist, but this is a pretty unprecedented halftime.
Wonder why OSHA is involved, unless it's some kind of tie-in with the NYPhil not wanting their folks getting hit in the face with a baton.

His name is Matt Pickus. Hope he's fully recovered from the incredibly unlucky, catastrophic knee injury he suffered at Homecoming, what, two years ago? It was ugly.

Hit this webpage and it will tell you a pretty expansive list of stuff

Also, if you're an Alumni Association member and still in town on Sunday, the Alumni Association is doing tours of the stadium/locker room. They do have a cost associated with them.

There's an open rehearsal at Michigan Stadium on Friday evening. They're prepping the halftime show, which this week features (in addition to the MMB) the brass section of the NY Philharmonic, the Choral Union, and the alumni band.
Even if the music doesn't appeal to you (or the rehearsal is just really boring), it may be a nice opportunity to enjoy some time in the stadium.

Sorry for my ignorance, what are the steps of revelli?
October 7th, 2015 at 11:55 AM ^
Revelli is the music hall where the band practices, located at 350 E. Hoover. There's a drumline show on the steps there ... The hall's named after William Revelli, marching band director for 36 years http://mmb.music.umich.edu/section-sites/drumline/revelli_directions.htm

The cymbals in the MMB are always funny to watch... kinda gimicky when they do all of there little "stunts".

If you follow the Michigan Marching Band on Facebook, they'll give you the schedule for the day so you'll know when the show starts.

It has to be sharing recipes with Sara Mouton in the AAUM Member Lounge. If there's a better activity for a father and son to enjoy together, I don't know what it is.

See frat guys go at it before Dean Wormer ends that tradition.

Student Union will have an inflatable QB blitz inflatable, two airbrush face painters, and a photo booth for students as an alternative tailgate to deter drinking. I'm sure they would be open to allowing some of that for children. (Although I am not certain) 9 AM - 12 PM

A Michigan victory. The most important homecoming activity.
