Hockey ranked #13 in USCHO preseason poll
Crickets chirp.
This is actually the lowest Michigan has ever been ranked in a USCHO preseason poll. #11 was the previous low in 2013-14.

You could swap us and Minnesota and I wouldn't have a problem. Either one will be champ of the B1G, we'll have 1-2 bids in the tourney barring a cinderella run, and neither will be better than a lower 2, high 3 seed. Got a huge chance to set a tone for the season with the early road series against BU.

You think we have a chance? Our coaching and goaltending problems will prevent us from winning the conference in my opinion.

A team this talented on paper with this weak an overall conference has a chance. And I'm putting more faith Steve Shields's ability to work with the goaltenders than Blackburn's. We get nationally average goaltending, we'll win the conference.

I will believe it when I see it. Crazy to think that LArkin might have been on this team -- then, I would believe it.

#13 in the PWR is a low 3 seed.
The team's ceiling is a national championship.
Their floor is not making the tournament *again*.
That's how it is when you have talent like this with no stability in terms of their play.

Michigan's ceiling has been national championship every year since the early 90's. The combo of one-and-done tournaments and under-utilized talent is why we've only won it all twice in those 25 years.
I expect us to miss the tournament again frankly

Same until proven otherwise.
It's not even national championships, though. We've been to exactly two Frozen Fours in the last 10 years.
And that horrific non-conference schedule.......drop one of those games to an AHA tomato can, and you're pretty much swimming upstream.

Paging Mel Pearson in 3...
September 28th, 2015 at 3:57 PM ^
Why would Mel leave? He's got a good thing there and he's growing his *own* program!

If that's his only motivation.
September 28th, 2015 at 5:33 PM ^
If Mel wanted to be at Tech so bad, why did he stay in Ann Arbor for over 20 years? Think it didn't occur to Tech that he was a viable candidate? Or did Mel probably tell them 'thanks, but no thanks' for a long time? It's obvious they liked it down here

Michigan has to play Robert Morris, Niagara, Mercyhurst at home.
Most fans in attendance will have no idea where any of the three are located.
RMU is a trap series.

In one of my first years watching M hockey I showed up early to a St Lawrence game and had to ask one of the away parents where their school was. Now I know. Somewhere in NYS

Hopefully they can outperform a bit, but I'm not holding my breath.

13 seems high to me, they weren't a top 20 team most of last year and I see this team being less talented.
