Shitty situation.
Reminder to the MgoCommunity, the kids might read these threads. We're all curious about his future, the program's future, and love conjecture. But in these situations, conjecture doesn't add much but could be really hurtful to the kid.
Talk about someone only as if they are in the room. Always a good standard.

No. This is probably the #1 blog dedicated to Michigan and those of us who have been around a while are well aware that the kids sometime read the blog.
Even if that weren't true, its advice that might save you a world of trouble some day.

Whatever is decided, it should be based solely on his ability to contribute to the football team for four years. A scholarship offer is contingent upon this ability and recruits have no qualms about backing out of verbal commitments. There is no moral obligation to honor a scholarship offer for somebody who isn't physically capable of contributing.

I agree. As much as it sucks for the kid, Michigan shouldn't be wagering the program's future based on feeling sorry for kids. Scholarship offers are contingent on players being able to perform their duties as athletes upon signing the NLI.
I think occasional exceptions can and should be made, such as the Austin Hatch situation. Losing two parents and suffering a catastrophic injury in a plane crash is a unique situation, but ACL tears are not so troublesome to overcome.

That sucks. Hopefully he can recover, but multiple knee and leg injuries in a career this young isn't a good sign.
