StubHub or Scalpers?

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

Here's my situation: Because of geography and family circumstances, I usually only make it to 2-3 games a year. Usually early in the season, because my MGoWife and MGoDaughters don't like to endure the Gales of November. I usually get four tickets, and I don't much care where we sit. I'm not going to pay top dollar so that they can sit on the 40-yard line, when they don't even know who we're playing. They love the experience. They don't care about the game. So I'm fine sitting in the endzone.

I'm looking at games like UNLV, Oregon State and BYU, and I'm wondering: Am I better off using StubHub or getting them from scalpers? I've always just used StubHub the past few years, because I don't want to show up without tickets. But for those of you who have gone the scalping route, am I going to save a lot and get better tickets if I do that?

I rarely go to games these days. So due to it being a rare event and after a scalping tragedy at the U.S. Open (tennis), I'll never scalp again. In my younger days I didn't feel bad about it, now it feels petty wheeling and dealing, when stubhub, etc. are only a few bucks more. Less stress. I'm becoming risk-averse with age, ha.

will be a road game at Indiana. In June IU was selling single game tickets for 55.00 a piece and you got your pick of seats in most sections. I got 40 yard line seats about 20 rows up when I purchased my tickets back in June. Originally I checked on stub hub and some other online sites and most tickets were going for around $70.00. I think many people are into making a profit on their tickets selling them through stub hub and other online ticket sites. It use to be a good deal in years past but in the past 10 years I notice these investors have taken over. The best way is to go is through the university. I use to get some great deals from Iowa when Michigan use to play there every other year.
