Iggy being the king of the junkies, I was pretty sure it really wasn't the Stooges.
I see Iggy's on the bill this year. Saw the Stooges at RF Denver 2013, some of their set anyway, before I split to claim a good location for the Mats. He's a force of nature, and Fun House is in my top 10. But it really is time to put a shirt on, Igg.
And the Prodigy. That band was ahead of their time.
Hope to see them as well. The Day is My Enemy isn't a great album but it is a kickass track... if they play a good setlist, that's a bucket list concert for me.
It's hard for a band to stay great/relevant for longer than 20 years. U2's best work was in the 80's/early 90's but Zooropa, Pop, and All You Can Leave Behind are not bad albums. They hit the wall after that and their last three albums, starting wtih Atomic Bomb, have been pretty bad.
The next band to test this 20 year thesis will be Radiohead with their next album. King of Limbs was still pretty damn good so hopefully they can break the 20 year mark (Pablo Honey was released in 1993).
Also, nice Hail to The Thief avatar.
Admittedly, the only song I really like on TKOL is "Separator." The parallels between it and Atomic Bomb are kind of scary. I mean, Atomic Bomb still had a few good songs (ironically, the best song on that album was "Fast Cars," which was not even included on the US release), but there were signs...
Mrs. WWM had excellent seats for one of the Denver shows and said it was great. I kinda wanted to inspect the spectacle since I haven't done an arena show since... having to think... R.E.M. in '89, which probably doesn't even count. But with Old 97s and Cracker in town the same week, no Bono.
Perfect weather, the Chicago skyline as the backdrop after dark. Amazing show.
It should be noted this was the old Soldier Field- well before the renovations.
U2 is the quintessential MomRock band.
Don't take that as a bad thing, moms like music too.
This times one hundred billion.
My own personal MILF is a fan... "which pretty much makes me a vegetarian," as it were.
Saw them at Toad's Place in New Haven in 1981, I think it was the "Boy" tour, I was 17 and thought they were awesome. Within a couple of years I was sick of listening to him whine.
