Betsa struggling. Walked one, hit a batter, gave up a home run, and a hit
Rough start for sure. Struck out two to end the inning though, so maybe just thrown off by the delay.
Last time I watched a game sitting in this chair, we lost to Iowa. I'm hoping this isn't my bad-luck chair.
On the plus side, Minny was trailing this same MSU team over the weekend, and went on to pound them into the ground. Betsa gets some Ks to finish off the inning - let's get our O going now!
If it happens again you will have to burn it.
No other option.
Edit: Unless you're at the stadium. Please don't burn down the stadium.
my one pair of Steelers boxer shorts. Thank you Mr. Tebow.
that I will never understand the strikezone in NCAA softball.
I don't get it, but it seems that that's the point.
It's either Ks or HRs right now for Sparty, it feels like. Unfortunately, that's got them to a 3-0 advantage. Lots of time to recover still, though.
Will come back in this one..
First softball game I have gotten a chance to watch all season.
Figures.
Just got to keep it at 3. We won't be held under 4 in this game.
Sure hope you're right. Ramirez, then the top of the order - maybe we'll do better 2nd time through.
Semms like those outside corner pitches are called strikes when we're batting and balls from our pitchers.
gotta get the bats heated up
Romero single and LAwrence scores 3-1.
nice hit!
Romo ropes her 2nd single of the game and knocks in Lawrence, who had stolen 2nd base after walking. 1 on, 1 out for Christner.
Edit - Ha, so I was a little late to that party...
go KS
she's had some nice swings, thought she could get one there.
I can't handle the woman screeching.
that's the soundtrack.
Sweet walks to load 'em up with 2 outs. Huge at bat here.
Montemarano walks, and it's 3-2! Bases still juiced.
3-2. Michigan walked in for a run. 8 straight balls
Foul-out ends the threat, but the Spartan lead is down to 1. Feeling a little better, still nervous, though.
Wish we'd gotten a base hit there, but 3-2 is a fair enough score so far. Plenty of time left.
Blanco swung at a ball to pop it up. Oh well. Big inning regardless and the top of the lineup will be up again next inning.
rough conditions
wind/rain were ridiculous
Should've stopped it sooner - Sparty never gets that error if it's not raining. Frustrating.
Now in weather delay, and Wagner is in for Blanco.
If there's one criticism I have for Hutch, it's that she doesn't seem to trust her players much these days when they hit little rough patches.
I think pulling Betsa for Wagner was warranted. Wagner got through last inning pretty well and Betsa gave up two long balls in the first two innings.
Perhaps, but I think at this point you have to consider the postseason. Betsa seems to be the #1 option at this point, and giving her a bit of experience battling through adversity could be beneficial. With the Big Ten the way it is, this chance won't come around often.
I'd go with whoever can win the game. Wagner has a sub 2 era so if Betsa doesn't have it that's a nice alternative.
Radar looks good and the team has another game tomorrow, so I'd be suprised if it wasn't restarted soon.
Hopefully the team wakes up or you will have had a REALLY bad day.
Twitter account says the game will restart in a few minutes.
Radar shows another band coming in about 30 minutes or so, but it shouldn't be as intense as what just passed over.
Can't be as bad as that Michigan WMU football game a few years ago. I could barely see the field from where I was.
By the way, thanks to all the fans who stayed. Especially that one person in the right field bleachers.
Wagner strikes her out for the 3rd out!
Sparty gets runners to 2nd and 3rd, but a huge K from Wagner ends the danger. 9-1-2 up for Michigan in the bottom of the 4th.
Edit: sorry, that's 8-9-1.
MSU gets a runner on third but Wagner finishes the inning with a strikeout. That pitch was nasty.
Go Wings!
How on earth is that a strike???
I know it's a huge zone, but nothing about that resembled a strike.
she smoked that.
unlucky there. Just short of a home run.
Damn.
Romo inches from a two run homer, but the catch ends the inning and we're treated to a 'Spartans Will' commercial. Please win this game.
I wouldn't give up just yet.
(and the whole lineup is filled with teeth)
At least Wagner is mowing down their hitters. Just need the offense to wake up.
