MBB: Does the Davis commitment mean LeVert [EDIT: or Beilfeldt] are coming back?

Submitted by Erik_in_Dayton on
I join those who are confused by the Davis commitment - because of the roster imbalance it creates as much as anything. But I also wonder whether we've learned here that LeVert is coming back.

You can't give a scholarship to Jaylen Brown or Kenny Williams even if LeVert leaves so long as you take Coach Beilein's statement that there will be no roster attrition at face value. Davis's scholarship offer is currently contingent on LeVert's scholarship being available by 2016, and you couldn't be sure of that if it were taken up by anyone other than a senior.

I know there are other ways Davis and either Williams or Brown could be on the roster together, but LeVert staying and Michigan being done with 2015 recruiting seems the most likely. I doubt Coach Beilein would essentially burn a 2015 scholarship by locking himself in with Davis. So, we have good news?

EDIT: I didn't think about the possibility of bringing Max back and using the 2015 opening (if LeVert leaves) that way. We have to allow for that.

I don't think Teske is flipping to OSU. We've heard nothing about any interest or visits, or even continued recruitment. Matta just took a 4/5 and is still looking (most likely) for a true center but it seems the choice right now is Micah potter, another Ohio kid.
