Think of how awesome the football program could be if it didn't have to support so many Women's Sports.
Oh look everyone, it's the neckbeard who gets banned every other week and makes new accounts so he can keep being a douchey troll.
Do you disagree with my stance? I'm not saying, "Down with Women's Sports!1!!", just that the football team profits twice as much as it costs. That could do some beautiful things keeping it in the program.
Like make Michigan stadium the largest in the Western Hemisphere!
Oh wait...
I disagree with your stance, jackass.
Are personal attacks toward new members an accepted practice here?!?
you are not new. Your trolling stench is quite familiar.
And we bring back the appropriate gif for this "new member"....
You are a pathetic POS who gets banned weekly.
Seriously? You, the Danny Devito guy, and a bunch more are just accounts made from people who are already members. The main contributers of this site are probably a handful of guys with a bunch of different accounts. Fucking weird.
Not at all. I'm one person. Fucking weird is right though.
anyone who has an avatar like that probably looks more like this...
you get 1 dv
Anyone up for a downvote off?
Yes, I disagree with your "stance". Our football program does not suffer from a lack of funds, as our interim AD has demonstrated with the pool of money made available to the coaches. I hope they make even more, and share even more with the rest of the AD and the general fund.
Whether or not you agree with Title IX, it is not going away anytime soon. And, honestly, in the 21st century, bitching about it sorta makes you look like a douchebag. You may want to reconsider your position.
Leaving out any philosophical disagreements here, if more money would help football why are they putting $13mm into the general fund?
Also, what specifically do you want the AD to buy that would help football win more?
Well for example the AD solicited donations for the band in Dallas a couple years ago. I'd much rather see that paid for out of AD funds. Bringing the band to important away games is a lot more beneficial than funding Women's Water Polo.
The AD could have paid for the band with womens sports as well. It didn't cost much at all.
Again, leaving out your value judgements, there is a $13mm surplus while also sponsoring water polo. Are you saying you'd prefer to up MMB's budget by more than thirteen million dollars?
I'd support whatever it takes to bring the band to all away games. Also, they're eventually going to have to start giving players a stipend which will eat away at bottom lines.
Once again, specifically, what can money buy that would make the football program more awesome? So far you've listed "bring the band to more games". Even assuming the ridiculous cost of traveling to Dallas applies to Big Ten games, you've spent less than a million dollars more than the current budget.
I eagerly await your well thought out answers on what else football should spend more money on to be more awesome.
Also, they still haven't installed Wifi in Michigan Stadium. That is something that should have been done already, and would be a much better use for the money.
Nebraska just spend $12.3mm on sound upgrades and wifi, from poking around the NFL it looks like about 1/2 to 2/3 of that was wifi.
You still need to find another five million or so (at the minimum) to spend this year even with a one time outlay for a facilities upgrade.
Michigan isn't going to have the same surplus for this year. It will be considerably less.
Brady Hoke's staff was paid (IIRC) seventh most nationally last season, Harbaugh's should be top five in 2015.
MMB budget + 13 million dollars is just begging for a "THE FUTURE" photoshop.
Where my laserz at?
-23 in a half a day? Impressive.

They should return some to the shareholders.
You're an idiot. "Shareholders"? Go away.
Familiar with how that works?
Blame it on a case of the Mondays.
Pro tip for anyone late to this party and wondering wtf is going on as I was initially:
1. Go to phone ap
2. Read comments from obviously caved poster
I love that the phone ap doesnt delete these threads when moderated. It's like learning a dirty little secret you werent suppose to be in on.

What troll are you again? I mean really dude, get a life.
shut up. Ohio has more womens sports than we do and they do just fine. The key is getting the right guys in there for coaches and AD and good facilities. What are we going to do besides the 250 million Michigan Stadium renovation/ Coach Harbaugh/super staff to win with extra money for football.
I'm not sure how more money could make the team any better. We have the coach we want and our staff to player ratio is seemingly approaching 1:1. Our facilities are second to none unless we want to create a spa-like atmosphere line they have in Tuscaloosa (I'd prefer to avoid that). I also might recommend you refer to the non-revenue sports as non-revenue sports or Olympic sports. "Women's" got nuthin to do with it. As a man with a daughter who looks like she may be able to compete at the college level you can imagine what I think about your comment.
That ''spa-like atmosphere'' hasn't won Alabama a damn thing anyway. Saban has won them everything they have. It will be easier to continue to win when Saban leaves since they have all that stuff, but coaching matters.
Hell Florida doesn't even have an indoor practice facility and Urban did just fine there.
Its comments and view points like this that actually take away from the money in Men's athletics.
I don't think anybody, man or woman, argues what drives revenues in sports, but there is definitely no need to drop the gender issue. There are plenty of mens sports generating negative income as well.
Moving on from that comment....
because you could say this about most men's sports too. IIRC the only men's sports that really make money are football, basketball, and hockey. Thus you're leaving out most of the men's sports as well
But then again, the point of the University having sports isn't to make money off them
That's true, but there are exactly zero Women's Sports that make money. Men's Sports account for all of the operating revenue.
Seriously dude, why the abject hatred for women's sports? Have you not gone to a Michigan Womens' Volleyball, Softball, or Gymnastics (among others) competition as they are great athletes and represent our University well!
Do you have nothing better to do sitting in your mother's basement and your pissed off at all the women in the world who would not go on a date with you, and with views like yours, I am not surprised. Try coming into the 21st century and oh yeah, get a job.
Get the federal government to throw out Title IX and we wouldn't have to worry about women's sports. Until then, go take another steroid.
Add more sports!
Men's Rowing has only won the last 7 ACRA National Championships. Of course, they'd have to add a women's sport to keep the Title IX balance so.......women's hockey?
