a few days of decent goaltending and now the blow up. Nagelvoort will start tomorrow, win, beat State once, then get blown up in game 2. Etc etc etc

St Cloud isn't eligible because they're under .500.

As of right now, Michigan is at 16th. They must win their final 3 games, but it's still alive by the thinnest of marings.

Seems to be my usual now... 1- well that bump in my diary I talked about happened at about the worst possible time. We're at defcon 1 for at large bid hopes. Basically its win out the regular season, win a semi in the btt and pray. Otherwise its tourney champs or bust. 2- I was thinking about this and really, has red been able to recover since Montoya left a year early I terms if goaltending?? Just seems like since señor save went adios with a year remaining we never have been able to recruit that 3-4 yr goaltender red built his legacy on. Shawn hunwick yes, but he was a lucky get who was supposed to go to like Albion or something. We lose montoya, whiff on Gibson, and things have never been the same.

The John Gibson/Jack Campbell thing is largely a myth. Neither of those guys would have been with the program longer than a year or two anyways. No, what killed this program was having a blueline so poorly coached for 4 years that they turned potential 4 year starter Jared Rutledge into a twisted heap of ruined confidence, so badly he's just trying to stay on a team in the USHL. Then they gave up the 3-4 breakaways and odd man rushes in every game and let every shooter in the country take shots from 7 feet away until they turned multi-year starters Steve Racine and Zach Nagelvoort into busted shells of goaltenders. We don't have a goalie problem. We have a coaching problem.

Several of PSU's goals were defensive breakdowns last night. Wide open looks from inside the circles. NHL goalies aren't going to do well when they're hung out to dry like that.
