OT: Florida negotiating with McElwain

Submitted by Brodie on

So Jeremy Foley flew out to Colorado to meet with Jim McElwain tonight in his home... they are apparently in the advanced stages of negotiation and Foley is also working on getting his $7m buyout reduced, something Colorado State may actually be contractually obligated(!) to do.

This has a rather minor effect on us... McElwain was a popular plan C type name for us, and one wonders if Nussmeier might find a home in Gainesville if we're interested in tracking our ex-assistants. Mainly, though, this shows the utter lack of top level candidates out there.

The sooner Florida and Nebraska hire their coaches the better.  Although I doubt that we're really in competition with Nebraska.  That entire state is like a post apocalyptic wasteland.

I heard some chatter on sports radio out here that CSU will look at Bob Stitt as their next coach if the Florida deal goes through. It would be interesting to see his offense at the mountain west level.

of its implying what it reads like. Hoke failed at Michigan. I watched his SDSU teams play (from all years) and he wasn't at all out if his element. It's actually my biggest question on how he failed so miserably here as they were everything he preached we'd be. There is a reason a certain insane OL issued a fatwa against Hoke when he left. Stitt is famous for creating a play and winning against any team that would play his Miners. Might as well throw the Arkansas HS coach that never punts into the discussion.

Bob Stitt wins 8 games a year at a division 2 school, has never coached above the FCS level, and has a reputation for crazypants offenses

Brady Hoke has turned perennial also rans in the MAC and MWC into winners and won a BCS bowl

it's a ridiculous argument, but not in the way you think
