Prediction re: coaching change / AD firing

Submitted by michgoblue on
So, with everything we have seen in the past 8 days, including:

1. The Utah debacle
2. The media frenzy this week following said Utah debacle (SI, rolling stone, gameday, Desmond calling us out, and a ton more)
3. The alleged letter to the regents from former players, the complete and total shit show of this Minny game
4. Oh, I forgot, the ND debacle, since comparatively, it wasn't that bad
5. Morris concussion / injury management
6. Paying Morris when he clearly couldn't move the ball (even prior tithe injury)
7. The players only meeting tomorrow
8. The mattison / Hoke sideline fight
9. The rumored Nuss / Hoke locker room fight
10. The rumored divisions in the locker room (much of which was really evident from our sideline
11. 2013 - all of it (which, while not in the pat 8 days, isn't looking that bad right about now)

What is the prediction from this blog as to whether we see any changes in the coaching staff or AD, and if so, when?

My prediction: firing the ad takes a long time. I expect, though, that Hoke is gone on Monday. They will name either Nuss, mattison or even DB himself as interim and start a search immediately. Hoke's handling of the Morris injury gives DB the perfect excuse to fire hoke and take some heat off for the rest of the season.

I don't think Brandon wil fire Hoke on Monday.  That's not a Michigan move, really.  But, if he does, they name Nuss the interim head coach and Nuss starts winning games... who knows.

I feel like the play calling is very conservative, and I don't think it's Nuss.  I think Brady wants to keep it close to the vest and Nuss wants to open it up.

I'm putting this here because this is the first place I've heard it mentioned but, if Dave Brandon takes over as head coach for even one game I will very literally shit in my pants.

No way Hoke gets fired Monday. Brandon would never do that as much as we all wish it would happen. I predict and hope that Hoke gets fired after the season ends with us not going to a bowl game. Not sure whether the regent would really fire Brandon too but his firing would be best middle of the season to get another guy in with time to start a search for HC

Since it's Brandon's job to fire him then my prediction he doesn't get canned until 2-3 weeks into January.  Every AD knows it's bad business to fire a guy midway through the season and I honestly think that Brandon and Hoke are isolated from the outside world.  Also, he waited a long time to can RR and lets not forget that Hoke and Brandon are buddies.

Here is a crazy (probably stupid) idea. Name Mike Hart the interim coach and tell him that he can have the RB coach job when a new coach is hired.

Go after Les Miles to groom Mike Hart to be his successor.

We need someone who is fiery and tell it like it is (and also with a loose tongue).

I am sick of this family atmosphere crap.

How I wish we can have Tom Brady (if he ever wants to coach and be successful). That guy is fiery. Just like Jim Harbaugh. He won't give up. May be a 2025 project?

If ESPN, ABC News or NBC News gets hold of the Morris story and if there is more to it than just on field debacle, I don't see Hoke coaching the next game.

Let us pray that the national media is on to the story.

Brandon has explicitly stated he believes in fixing things that aren't broken.

Does he also believe that broken things shouldn't be fixed?

The end is near, my friends. However, I highly doubt they fire either Hoke or Brandon midseason. The Morris situation yesterday was egregious, but firing a head coach after the 5th game may make a terrible season even worse.

As much as I agree with everything I've read in this thread, I don't think much, if anything will be done this season, AND I think we'll have to suffer through several more years of this until the program becomes utterly irrelevant, and that pains me greatly. Here's what I see: 1. We have a new President who couldn't give two flying fucks about football and so couldn't care less if the Michigan football tradition falls into total obscurity. And the more past-players bitch about it, the more obstinate he'll likely become to concerning himself with the whole situation, because he already obviously finds it beneath him and the University. 2. With the President's lack of concern for athletics, Brandon flat out won't be fired, and likely will even see his contract renewed in 2017. He will make another terrible, or mediocre at best, hire for HC after this season is over, and Michigan will just become some team other teams have to 'get through' to get to their "real" games. 3. And because Brandon is sticking around, I see a herd of pigs flying over the stadium more likely an event than Hoke being fired mid-season, no matter how much worse it gets (I personally can't imagine it getting worse. This IS rock bottom, but even now I'm scared to watch as we see just how deep this hole may go). This will ultimately lead to a lack of good recruits that could affect us for several years to come because how can you commit to a school where you don't even know who your coach is going to be? To me, Michigan is heading into some really dark days and we'll hang out there for a long while. The school has stocked it's cupboard with powerful Heads that no longer care about the football program and to a lesser extent, the deep history of this school in general. Profits for this supposedly non-profit entity are the ONLY concerns of those in charge today and to keep themselves non-profit they will simply pay themselves more and more money on the backs of these students, student athletes, and us, while we all die a little inside as we watch our beloved Michigan crumble into ruin.
