Hello: Duncan Robinson
As expected, Michigan will be the destination for the DIII transfer. Staskaus 2.0?
I am proud to announce that I'll be transferring to the University of Michigan. Proud to be a Wolverine! #GoBlue 〽️

Even if he's "just a shooter" and is a guy off the bench, that's a guy worth having around. And he's tall. And he's already played a year in a Beilein-influenced offense under one of Beilein's old assistants. And he'll have a year in a S&C program that has produced some pretty good results so far before he gets on the court.
I'm not seeing a ton of downside here. I mean, people freaked out over using a scholarship on Spike at the time and he's been a contributor to the team the last two years. Plus, unless this kid completely blows up (a good problem to have) we're going to have a 6'8"+ 3-bomber when he's 23, 24 years old because he took a prep year and is now redshirting due to the transfer.
Dumars' firing from the Pistons started the domino effect leading to Robinson's head coach at Williams leaving for another job.

This kind of scholly offer is unprecedented--
previous D III guys to transfer were walk-ons with programs (GW and current-era Maryland) not as sucessful as UM.
That being said I am a big fan of this pick-up and I think 45% three point shooters who are 6'8'' are good to have around.
duncan robinson is the most 'basketball' name of all time
take that gordon hayward!
5* recruit's hype is fun, but its much more fun to see a nobody blow up and have sparty cry that all beilein's nobody-recruits blow up and their 5* recruits dont develop. well, it was fun when sparty got 5* recruites, anyway.
Even if he's the best player in D3 it's a huge gap to the top of college basketball. Look at what we did to Concordia last year who's better than any D3 school. I trust Beilein but it's alright to be skeptical.
than football. Basketball, you recruit players from 8th/9th grade so it takes 3 years for it to really make a good impression with their play on the court. Michigan made the national championship game 2 years ago and the first year that it will take effect on the recruits is 2016 class which is loaded with stars. Michigan are in a lot of 2016 stars like Thornton, Battle, etc.
Expecting 2014 and 2015 class to pay immediate dividends based on recent play won't happen because the impression has already been made a couple years prior.

that coaches has been on them the longest that it's hard for them to pick up new teams this late in the process when they're JR and SR. 4 years ago, class of 2014 and 2015 has already has their top 5 schools and Michigan wasn't nationally prominent.
It's 2016 that Michigan should really make noise. I have talked to a few D1 college coaches. They said it's much easier to recruit young kids from 8th/9th grade when they're about to form their own opinion of how good of a school they are. They spend time building relationships that it's nearly impossible to get 4* and 5* recruits especially 5* where they have blue blood programs going after them.
"He was comparing the kid to Klay Thompson this morning after having talked with some sort of scouting-type person about him. He also said that he thinks Robinson is a better prospect than Jalen Coleman or Eric Davis, both of whom he believed Michigan would be done with if Robinson committed. "
LOL Sam Webb is a clow. Robinson is 20 years old and is not a "better prospect" than Coleman or Davis. He will be a 22 year old sophomore (24 year old senior) and I could see him being Josh Shurna but Stauskas? Please.
