OT: Congrats to Lebron

Submitted by Jobu on
Congrats to Lebron James, future GOAT, on becoming the youngest player ever (waves to Michael and Kobe) to reach 23,000 points!

Look at their rosters...who was lbjs pippen? Mo Williams? Don't act like they had the same rosters, you can't blame him that the roster assembled around him was crap. Do you nullify Kobe's titles because they involved trades to get shaq and gasol. He didn't "build" the team in house.

Cleveland guy and avowed Lebron hater but I think these pictures are interesting.

Here is Lebron as a Senior in High School

Here is Lebron last year

Must be all that super good nutrition he's getting now.  No reason for the NBA to start testing for PEDs.  Everybody knows only baseball has that problem.

Are you seriously arguing that his body transformation over the last 14 years could not have happened without ped?? That's pretty ridiculous. Look at the weight gains by our own players like caris and stauskas and that was over 1 summer in college. Come on.

No - I'm going to argue that the NBA as a whole is baseball circa 1997-98 with players getting huge for no apparent reason and everybody looking the other way.  I'm going to argue that Lebron is symbolic of that "good nutrion" muscle mass growth and his body change might have something to do with the lack of any sort of organized PED testing in the NBA.

I admidt to being a Lebron hater and now I have to admidt to at being shitty at Google searching "Lebron James Senior High School" images but for me at least I dont think there's any debating that the average basketball player has changed a TON from what they looked like from about 1950 - 2000 recently.

Oh of course not, that wouldnt be fair without any proof.  Of course there is no way to get any proof given the NBA's non-testing for PEDs.

So (if you're old enough to remember) during the 90s when skinny baseball players like Barry Bonds, Sosa and the imortal Brady Anderson suddenly pumped up and started hitting home runs like never before did you think it was because of "good nuitrion"?

Jesus people I dont for the life of me understand why anybody would think basketball players are NOT taking PEDs given the lack of testing and the tremedous change in the average player's bodytype.

I like most of your content, but this is arguably your worst comment ever. I, personally, have gained over 60 pounds of muscle since high school (currently 28 years old) and I've never taken anything more than whey protein, and I am no longer a serious athlete by any means.

Most high school kids, especially athletes, are beanpoles. Just the way it goes...

Thanks but trust me I've made far, far worse comments.  This is just me on an "anti-PED" soapbox for the NBA.  Look, I lift too and have changed my body type but the lack of overall awareness of the NBA's increadibly lax PED policy coupled with the perception that baseball is the only sport with issues just amazes me.

The hatred for the best basketball player since Jordan is hilarious. Some of the older people need to just let up the hate and realize LeBron is going to be one of the GOAT.

But it's ridiculous to compare two of the greatest of all time players who come from completely different eras of basketball. Too many rule changes to do that. However, can't wait until technology improves enough to provide an accurate cgi'd game between all the greatest players throughout the nba. Just hope the White Mamba doesn't throw down on everyone too hard

The 5 position is very weak these days..back in MJs day LebRon would have got worked guarding 5s like The Admiral, Hakeem, Ewing..LeBron is great and being the youngest to 23k is nice and all but MJ is still the GOAT...won 6 in a row basically would have been 8 had he not left.

Why would LeBron guard any of those guys?  Are you aware that James is not a center?  Sure he sometimes guards the 5 once in a blue moon but he doesn't do it very often.  If LeBron played in that era he would dominate just as he is now.  He's a freak of nature and that wouldn't change no matter what era you speak of.  People just love to hate, I get it.

Fuck Lebron. Jordan would've done it earlier had he not went to UNC. And Lebron plays in a very different NBA than Jordan did. The defense in today's nba is non existent.

Obviously points aren't anywhere near the whole story but that was the topic of the OP, so here goes:

age Chamberlain James Abdul-Jabbar Robertson
19   1654
20   2175
21   2478
22   2132 2361 2165
23 2707 2250 2596 2432
24 3033 2304 2822 2264
25 4029 2258 2292 2480
26 3586 2111 2181 2279
27 2948 1683 1949 2378
28 2534 2036 2275 2412

Of course those losers wasted four years of their lives winning national championships (well, except for O) and getting their B.A.s.

If you're going to make a case for LeBron as the greatest, it's not going to be because of his point totals.
