M Lacrosse wins gets first-ever road win, beats Furman 11-9
Michigan won the game they should have won. They defeated the now-0-8 Furman Paladins, 11-9.
This is the first road in program history!
Michigan is now 3-4 on the season.
They travel for their final ECAC opener against Bellarmine a week from today for their next game.

Is Furman a team we should beat?
Absolutely.

furman ties it up at 3 right off the faceoff....
Hernandez breaks the tie!
4-3 Michigan.
A huge capacity crowd on hand today at furman stadium
If I had known, I would have gone -- I live in Greenville! Go Blue!
furman ties it at 4 but not for long as Dan Kinek gets Michigan back in front, 5-4.
From the last few games, it seems like Michigan can score, but has a crappy defense. Accurate?
They're getting....better.
Last game was the first time ever they held an opponent to under 10 in a loss. Lowest scoring game in Michigan history, it was. (9-7 loss)
Progress.
Calling all lax experts.
My 5 y/o boy wants to start lax this spring. I have to get a stick and a mouth guard- any advice on a stick for a little one? any general advice for lax at this age?
STX, Brine, Warrior and a bunch of other companies make a lot of beginner'/children's sticks nowadays. You can probably get one for about $30. Make sure it resembles a real stick though - and its not one of the tiny/novelty stickks.
You'll want to make sure its somewhat lightweight and has a pliable yet not-too-deep pocket. Basically you wanna make sure your kid can handle it to get the feel and practice the fundamentals. Good luck and have fun!
My 10 y/o son is on his 2nd year. I bought him a $30 Warrior Torch last year... no frills, bottom of the line stick. I think anything in the $30-40 range works as they all tend to have wider heads, and soft mesh (I think soft is better for beginners.) You'll need to cut the shaft down for a 5 y/o. Check with your coach or consulate your local rules on if there is a minimum length for his age group. Look online for tips on how short to cut it.

firm netting is easier on the throw as the ball rolls out of/off the basket more easily, but it is harder to cradle without the soft netting.
Paras nets his second of the game! 6-5 Wolverines.
Will Biagi is now taking faceoffs for Michigan instead of Brad Lott who has been struggling, again.
Halftime: Michigan 6 furman 6
Shots: 18-15 Michigan (13-9 SOG)
Saves: 7-3 furman
Groundballs: 14-14
Faceoffs: 7-7
Hat Trick King gets his second of the game to put Michigan ahead and then Mike Hernandez scores off the faceoff to put Michigan up 8-6.
King, Paras and Hernandez each have two goals.
HAT TRICK by the Hat Trick King!!!
9-6 Michigan. That's King's 8th goal in the last 3 games.
Thanks for the updates! Maybe another picture, pretty please?
(I grew up in Greenville, so it's a treat to see our boys in blue playing at Furman)
Looks like a great day for LAX!
Michigan Women down 6-0 not even halfway through the first half. Oy.
Michigan leads furman 9-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
furman is on a man-up for 1:30 due to two Chase Brown penalties.
WIN THE GAME!
Paras has a hat trick and puts Michigan up 10-7!
Halfway through the 1st half, #5 Florida leads the Michigan Women 10-0....
I read this as Josh Furman has switched to now playing lacrosse instead of football.
With 06:47 to play, Peter Kraus scores to give Michigan an 11-7 lead.
3 minutes to play. furman scores a goal.
Michigan leads 11-8 and will go man-up for 0:30
furman scores.
Michigan leads 11-9....
Michigan timeout with 25 seconds left
Michigan wins!!
Final: Michigan 11 Furman 9!
Michigan Women trail Florida 15-2, 3 minutes into the second half.
Welp.
Glad to see we're moving up from uncompetitive to just a bad team - and I don't mean that as a dig. We seemed to be fairly lost in our first few years as a D1 team, it's nice to see us start to beat the bad teams on our schedule and stay competitive with the good ones. We're getting there and I can't wait for when this is a top 25 program
good win for lax, but perhaps closer than it needed to be?
Phew! They needed that one. Maybe they can surprise Bellarmine next week! Go Blue!
In other bizarre news Cornell just beat #2 UVA. man that would've been a huge win!
that's a 2nd road win for Michigan. Win over Detroit Mercy at Ultimate Soccer Arenas is a road win since that's their defacto home field, but it's really a netural game.
UDM has a home field, it's just no more playable in the winter than the Big House is.
This.
Ann Arbor is 43 miles from Pontiac, and Detroit is 31.
I'd call that a neutral site game.
even though it's a netural site game by definition.
No, Detroit considers the field on their own campus their home field. But they play some home games in Pontiac because of weather.
Women's lacrosse goes down at #5 Florida, 20-4 in a final score.
Could have so much worse...
In other news, Ohio lost 7-5 at Hofstra today to move to 1-4 on the season. I like this.
