"I don't regret doing it because sitting on that information, given the comprehensiveness of it, I think we would have put everyone including Michigan in an awful place," Baker said Tuesday night while speaking to a small group of reporters at the NCAA Convention. "At the end of the day, no one believes at this point that Michigan didn't win the national title fair and square. So I think we did the right thing."

I stopped listening to 971 when COVID started when I no longer had a commute.  But from what I've read about Valentis topics over the past few months, he's deep down the conspiracy rabbit holes from rcmb.  Someone here said he was pushing the nonsense point shaving "FBI is on their tail" bs a bit ago.  That's just pure MSUanon booger sugar

Doesn't sound like much of an apology.

Go fuck yourself NCAA.  Or keep fucking Pettiti & Day while Saban videos it.  Whatever gets you off.  We stopped giving a shit a while ago.

If it's an olive branch I think you take it just to get this BS over with. Yet, that's such a BS stance to take. It feels so much like feudal lording over a program.

"Well, we took unprecedented steps and forced them to practically starve but they did survive the winter so the gods clearly want them to live and so shall I"

Like what?! So if Michigan didn't win the entire fucking thing they were cheaters? If an 18-23yo dropped a pass or got hurt or fumbled or whatever at the wrong time they were cheaters and if everything went right they earned their names back?!

That's so awful. Yet, again, you take the olive branch if that's what this is.

I don’t see it as an olive branch. It sounds more like a rationalization for why the NCAA violated its own rules to share information with the Big Ten prior to concluding its investigation. He can now say the wins were achieved “fair and square“ because the allegations were BS to begin with.

Just made the mistake of reading the comments on The Athletic article about this. Oh my, people are just freaking delusional. They have so much riding on this whole "cheating" thing, they're still talking vacated wins.

The Buckeyes just died a thousand deaths.

Clearly Baker hasn't been on 11W in the last few months. Or any social media, for that matter.

Not really but better political sense.

Charlie Baker was for many years a successful politician - so he can read the tone and mood. The way the Wolverines finished their season: MSU, PSU, Indiana, OSU, Iowa, Alabama, and Washington.

Tony Petitti tried to pull the tough guy routine - first chance he tries to create a situation to show how tough he can be - only to have it explode in his face. Next year during media day, should be fun especially if nothing comes from the NCAA investigation.

O.K. But you still never made a spectacle of yourself when Terrell Pryor kept showing up to practices and team meetings in 8 different luxury cars.  Or when Nick Saban kept over-signing recruits to the point they moved into on campus housing and then were cut for a last minute 5 star pick up, or when Auburn literally bought Cam Newton....at least not to the level of pearl clutching they accused Michigan of this season.

So why the inconsistency?  You still lost your shit when Harbaugh bought those cheeseburgers.

I appreciate this only for the fact that it will torture OSU and MSU.  But the NCAA can go fuck themselves.  Not as hard as the rest of the Big Ten can go fuck themselves but I digress.

I agree with Baker, he did the right thing by exposing it early. That gave Michigan the chance to prove it was all meaningless overblown bullshit.

8-0 after sign-gate.

I shudder to think of the furor our program would have faced in the clown-court of public opinion if the **GASP** completely idiotic and unnecessary i-phone-recordings-for-pizza-money scheme was revealed after the season.

People would assume all the wins were because of Goober McStalions.

We love to hate on the NCAA and the B1G, but in hindsight, they did us an inadvertent favor.  Had they slow-played any of this, we might be in a much different spot right now.

Yes, it does. They had (in their view) compelling evidence that Stalions was cheating and could impact the outcomes of games. They intervened to eliminate the cheating in the middle of the season. With the cheating eliminated, all wins thereafter are pure. Further, the wins prior are pretty clearly pure, given the large margins of victory and the outcomes of the final games.

“Won fair and square” and “helped legitimize” our championship seem reassuring and unambiguous.  Especially since he didn’t have to say anything there.

Meanwhle, heads are indeed asploding at 11W.  Some are resigned angrily while a loud minority lunatic parsing fringe thinks Baker’s comments somehow indicate that we are getting the death penalty.  Oh, and the level-headed “you can give up hoping” comments are getting greyed out.  Crazy.
