JJ could use the work in my stupid opinion.  It will be a crowded class of elderly statesmen at QB...looking at Nix and Penix and... I hope he doesn't have an agent spinning lies. He is not going to start if he goes this year...again IMSO. His upside is larger taking another year to bulk and learn. His biggest asset is his mind at this point and there is stuff to learn (if Harbaugh stays.)

Michigan will be fine. I wish the best for him in anycase.

I think there are two many QBs ahead of him in this years class to be a surefire 1st rounder. He has less data points on how well he would do in an NFL-style system because he has not been relied on to go out and win games solely on his arm. He also needs to bulk up to deal with the added punishment that he will have to contend with. That said I could see him leaving for the payday and because apart from being a captain, getting his degree, and repeating there is nothing left to accomplish. Unless, of course he really wants to solidify and perpetuate the culture for posterity‘s sake.

I really think JJ might come back, especially if the NIL $ are there.  Not certain he will be a first round pick if he goes - it is certainly debatable.

He also kind of reminds me of Andrew Luck, who actually came back a year for Stanford without NIL and was a guaranteed early 1st round pick.

And Andrew did this while his coach (can't remember his name) was considering and took a NFL position.  Coincidence?

With NIL - win/win if he stays...

What’s nice is Morris is poised for a bigger role, and he and JJ were teammates. Especially if Harbaugh leaves along with Corum, ZZ, co, JJ may have to truly carry the load of the offense, especially with The Don coming back passing attack may have to be featured more till Mullins, Marshall, and co get their footing.

I love the optimism, but it feels more like a statement made in the moment. Mentally I'm prepared for a big exodus including JJ, Donovan, probably Harbaugh and others. He's ready for the NFL, he's accomplished everything he could have possibly dreamed of doing here, and this year was always set up to 'peak'.

He'd be starting from scratch in a lot of ways. Loveland returns but recievers 1 and 2 are both gone. It'll be a whole new set of dynamics next year.

Corum is also gone, and likely Edwards as well. But what that could mean (emphasis on could) is that with less proven weapons next year, that might be an opportunity for Harbaugh or whoever the next coach is to tell JJ "The offense is going through you next year, so if you want a chance to vault yourself into the top-10 and make life-changing money, coming back is the way to do it."

I don't know if JJ would see it that way, and in a lot of ways he has nothing to prove. But I would just say that's a way to potentially entice him to come back even with the likely exodus Michigan is about to face. You could tell him to come back, bet on himself, tell him he will get more opportunities to carry the team himself, and that if he delivers, he can be a top-10 guy next year.

Right now, unless he absolutely ROCKS the Combine in every single facet, I don't think he sniffs the top-10. May not even make the first round.

I wouldn't put much stock in it. What was he going to say? "Sorry, but I have to think about it?"

He said what he said to make a happy fanbase even happier in the moment. He could still come back, but I wouldn't take that as a sign one way or the other.

I personally think that JJ is going to do whatever Harbaugh does. If Harbaugh tells him he's staying, then JJ probably stays too. If Harbaugh tells him he's leaving, my money is on JJ heading to the league. They seem to have a really strong cohesion with one another, and if JJ continues to play in college, I don't think he wants to play for anyone other than Harbaugh.

The NFL will look at his physical traits and take him in the upper rounds based on that.  Given the right physical traits, they believe they can develop a player they like into an NFL player.  And since it is your full time job, you can focus exclusively on that development.

However . . . you only get one shot at it.  The NFL has a very quick expiration date, and there will be guys coming in the next year and after that to replace you.  If you don't show out soon, you are done forever.  You are not their center of the universe like you are in college, they will drop you and move on.  There is no patience.  It has happened to so many guys who left early.  And that's it, they're done forever.

So, he really should come back.  He is talented but still a little shaky.  He needs to make sure that when he goes to the NFL, he is ready to maximize the development they will give him, and quickly.  He can't waste his one and only shot.

I think JJ should come back for his final year to raise his draft stock, and I also think Orji should make a position switch to running back. Davis would be the guy getting the mop up time.

What can "we" do? If we can donate big enough, then it's NIL. Get him an NIL package comparable to one year of his projected NFL rookie deal.

That being said, he has given so much to Michigan -- he has to think of himself and his financial future. If he gets a first-round grade, he should go. And I say best wishes to him.

Now, would I like him to stay? Of course. Besides his play, I can't think of a better leader and mentor for the new guys coming in. It would be amazing. But I think it would be silly for him to do so, unless he's mocked in the last second-round or something.

If he comes back I’d predict anywhere from a 12-2 up to a 16-0 season, a slightly heavier reliance on passing for the offense that leads to a 3000+ yd, 25+ TD season. Particularly if Harbaugh signs the contract and comes back and Michigan picks up another couple of important offensive pieces out of the portal. If he does that, especially if he leads Michigan to back to back titles, he wouldn’t be just one if the greats to play at Michigan but rather one of the true legends (like Woodson, Corum and Moody).

That would/should lead to a top 10 pick in next years draft.

If he goes this year I’d predict a late 1st round pick for him with 4-5 qbs picked ahead of him.

I’d love to see him return to Michigan, especially as next year with him sets up to be another great title contender.

I'd love to see him stay a year and have the offense continue to merge to balanced passing and rushing. Adding more throws that we know he can make. He'll have Loveland still with him next year. Maybe, just maybe, they can convince Donovan Edwards to come back one more year and be the guy for the team. I'd love to see it, even if the results don't match a 15-0 National Championship season.

Not expecting him to stay - he has enough talent and potential that at least one team will go for him in the 1st round. Maybe Seattle?

The guy has been truly a blessing and such a great ambassador for UM and CFB in general.

Maybe someone can find his tweet/post during the dreadful 2020 season. He was still in HS and posted something for all of us to remember: things are going to be alright at UM! He had more faith in what JH could do than I did.

I think he’s got an opportunity for some huge NIL money. Between Wendy’s and Dr Pepper, my TV was positively lousy with Caleb Williams on Saturdays this fall. JJ might not have a Heisman, but he’s pretty darn likable, and dare I say, “dreamy”.

His family’s well off already; I don’t know him but I got a hunch money isn’t going to be much of a factor.

Looking at the other QBs in the class, and the teams that are in the market, if he declares he likely isn’t going to go and start somewhere. He’s probably going to be competing against an established NFL qb for a roster spot.

So if competition on the field is what he really wants, I think he stays. That is of course if Harbaugh stays. And if they both stay, I think Donovan may too.
