Michigan Mt. Rushmore of Offensive Plays

Yesterday was the defense, today the offense.  So many to choose from; Desmond (The Catch), Roundtree to end the initial UTL game, Touchdown Billy Taylor, Mercury Hayes to beat Virginia are just a few to name but are not necessarily on my list.  Let’s hear what your top 4 offensive plays from Michigan are.  Go Blue!

I don’t see how you would beat out Desmond and that catch. Given the circumstances incredible call by Gary Moeller.
Manningham with the one second catch, which is the second that Paterno asked to be put back on the clock so it makes it doubly delicious.
Several pile pushes involving usually Blake Corum, where 3 yards turns into 15 with the Bigguns pushing him forward, especially against Iowa because they’re so tough.

The JJ panic pass to CJ for the first TD last year at Ohio State turned the game.

1994 in South Bend.

Remy Hamilton's game-winning FG against #3 ND.

Got to rush the ND field with my West Quad buds from bleachers in the endzone corner.

Mt. Rushmore for me.

Ones that immediately leap to mind:

- Remy Hamilton DAGGER in South Bend right after ND had taken the lead with less than a minute to go in the game, tremendous play by Collins to evade an unblocked rusher just long enough to find Seth Smith who then dove OOB to set it up. (honorable mention, Che Foster caught a blocked FG and was able to advance it for a 1st down that eventually lead to Michigan TD)

- Dreisbach to Hayes in '95 to break Virginia's heart

- The Catch in '91

- Roundtree in UTL in '11

- Manningham vs undefeated PSU in '05

- Denard's "shoelaces flapping in the wind" in South Bend was absolutely glorious in person

- Denard's first ever offensive touch deserves an honorable mention, a perfect preview of an incredible career to come

- Drew Henson on 4th and goal with the naked bootleg to ice the game in Columbus

- Tai Streets on the Sean Springs slip play in Columbus in '96 flipped the entire game

- Henne to Mannigham on an-inch-perfect thrown in East Lansing to win the game in '07 is a personal fave as well

For those of us with the dubious honor of being at UM during the Rich Rodriguez Era:

  1. Denard’s first snap- M at the Western Mich 48. Denard promptly turfs the snap, picks it up, breaks a leg tackle, cuts, and takes it to the house. Jaws drop.
  2. Denard’s 87-yard TD dash at Notre Dame in 2010. The on-air call was actually excellent (despite being on NBC). Worth having the volume up for this one:
