I am probably going to get slammed, but...

I don't know the history here. Is this linked to color of the skin? If so, why do they feel the need to do this in this day and age? If that is not the case, I apologize.

I’m not a Browns fan but I always like to see old logos make a comeback.  This one is pretty much the exact character they used for their home opener against the Miami Seahawks back in1946.

Couldn't have given him a cool name out of one of the Tolkien stories, like Legolas or Gil-Galad or Elrond or Glorfindel (who killed a Balrog!) -- no, it had to be something cutesy like "Brownie".  Gag me with a Silmaril.

Come on guys, your opinions and tastes are all wrong here. This is an awesome logo, and perfect for midfield. Sports logos have gotten more generic and boring as we've gone into a trend of minimalism. Most NFL logos are generic and boring. The Cowboys, Packers, Steelers, and Saints can get away with it based on history. But the rest of the league ought to have a little fun with their brand, and this is a good way to do it without messing with the uniform, including the helmet.

The league used to have some more detailed, interesting logos like the bucking Broncos and Colts, flying Eagle, Pat Patroit. The Dolphin wearing a football helmet was ridiculous and fun too. Modern versions of the logos for each team are maybe better for display on a Twitter avatar or phone app but show much less personality.

My Father moved my family from Ferndale to a suburb of Cleveland in 1978 when I was not quite a year old.

When we moved, he swore he would never allow me to be a Lions fan. I remember during my youth hearing him talk about how the Fords didnt care if the team won or lost because they were making money either way. About how they ruined Billy Sims. About how they couldnt find a quarterback in the dark with a flashlight and a homing signal...

So, I ended up becoming a Browns fan, mainly because of my Maternal Grandfather. He lived in Cleveland most of his life, and got his first set of season tickets when the Browns were still in the AAFC. Said the pair cost him $6.00 for the entire season.  He held on to those tickets until 1984, when his second bout of cancer and old age made it not worthwhile for him any longer.  Most fall SUndays were pent at their house, watching football with Grandpa and Dad, the day culminating in family dinner and the evening scramble to finish my homework.

So yeah - Dad didnt want me to be a Lions fan because the Lions were awful, and I ended up a Browns fan. Seems the Gods do have a sense of humor

Also that Elf is straight fire. It was the original team mascot and was banished by Art Modell. Even if it was awful, undoing anything Art Modell did is a win in my book
