Brownie the Elf
Title says it all.
This is Cleveland's mascot for this season... Brownie the elf.
Because they wanted to engage the fanbase.

The Browns (elves?) won their opener, so luckier than a leprechaun.
September 13th, 2022 at 9:33 PM ^
Was this one of the other three options?
Reminds me of a mini Paul Chryst.
September 13th, 2022 at 10:58 PM ^
Dobby was the third option.
September 13th, 2022 at 11:00 PM ^
Spoiler: Dobby dies…
September 13th, 2022 at 11:05 PM ^
Dobby was a good elf.

If we give Brownie a sock will it set him free from Cleveland?
September 14th, 2022 at 10:36 AM ^
Someone gave Baker Mayfield a sock.
September 14th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
You don't want to know what he did with that sock.
September 13th, 2022 at 9:32 PM ^
Elf you!
September 13th, 2022 at 9:33 PM ^
I'm all in favor of reviving historical team logos.
Now, if the Lions could only revive this one:
September 14th, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
Accurate all the way down to what I can only assume the smoke is from volcanos or meteor strikes, signaling the world has ended. Which would be the year the Lions win another World Championship.
September 13th, 2022 at 9:35 PM ^
Looks like a cross between Mr. Hanky and the Notre Dame leprechaun.
September 13th, 2022 at 9:40 PM ^
Is this the type of post to be labeled OT? I didn't watch is the Elf a Wolverine Elf?
September 14th, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
Anything making fun of Ohio is always on topic.
September 14th, 2022 at 2:49 PM ^
...and OT seems to be not really followed... we've had Queen Elizabeth and Serena Williams posts since.
At least mine is football.
September 13th, 2022 at 9:41 PM ^
Is brownie snap, crackle, or pop?
September 13th, 2022 at 10:38 PM ^
Izzo with some off-season income …
September 13th, 2022 at 10:48 PM ^
I am probably going to get slammed, but...
I don't know the history here. Is this linked to color of the skin? If so, why do they feel the need to do this in this day and age? If that is not the case, I apologize.
September 14th, 2022 at 9:15 AM ^
C’mon bru.
The Browns were named after their first head coach, Paul Brown. Brownie the elf is a silly mascot that has apparently been around for ever. Nothing to do with skin color.
September 14th, 2022 at 5:19 PM ^
Thank you!
September 13th, 2022 at 10:51 PM ^
“Title says it all.” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
September 13th, 2022 at 10:57 PM ^
At least he’s an angry elf!
September 13th, 2022 at 11:08 PM ^
I’m not a Browns fan but I always like to see old logos make a comeback. This one is pretty much the exact character they used for their home opener against the Miami Seahawks back in1946.
September 13th, 2022 at 11:10 PM ^
I don’t know, I kinda dig it. The Browns have the worst logo in sports
September 13th, 2022 at 11:14 PM ^
damn that's terrible. if you're going to go with a browns' mascot, i would think the obvious choice would be a bulldog to go with the dog pound dudes.
September 13th, 2022 at 11:43 PM ^
Old school. I remember him from my youth
September 14th, 2022 at 12:07 AM ^
Couldn't have given him a cool name out of one of the Tolkien stories, like Legolas or Gil-Galad or Elrond or Glorfindel (who killed a Balrog!) -- no, it had to be something cutesy like "Brownie". Gag me with a Silmaril.

* this title literally said almost nothing
September 14th, 2022 at 6:34 AM ^
don't know what elves have to do with Cleveland, at all, but I gotta be honest: pretty cool mascot
September 14th, 2022 at 8:41 AM ^
someone needs to teach brownie how to carry a football, he's totally going to fumble on first contact.

Come on guys, your opinions and tastes are all wrong here. This is an awesome logo, and perfect for midfield. Sports logos have gotten more generic and boring as we've gone into a trend of minimalism. Most NFL logos are generic and boring. The Cowboys, Packers, Steelers, and Saints can get away with it based on history. But the rest of the league ought to have a little fun with their brand, and this is a good way to do it without messing with the uniform, including the helmet.
The league used to have some more detailed, interesting logos like the bucking Broncos and Colts, flying Eagle, Pat Patroit. The Dolphin wearing a football helmet was ridiculous and fun too. Modern versions of the logos for each team are maybe better for display on a Twitter avatar or phone app but show much less personality.

Something like this is pretty snazzy...
September 14th, 2022 at 10:11 AM ^
I have no dog in this, but I think he looks cool. Far more imaginative than a plain-ass orange helmet.
September 14th, 2022 at 11:41 AM ^
While I've abandoned my Browns fandom for.... reasons, this mascot is kinda cool and has ties to their history (when they were not a living breathing clown show)
September 14th, 2022 at 12:04 PM ^
Didn't the old St. Louis Browns have a logo like that?
September 14th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
Indeed they did
September 14th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
This actually makes me less embarrassed to be a Detroit Lions fan for at least one day.

Steel Cage Match: Brownie vs Wolverbear
September 14th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
It's nice to see that they found work for Baker Mayfield.
September 14th, 2022 at 1:31 PM ^
That's what my classmates chose for the giant brown stuffed animal dog we had in kindergarten. Huh.

My Father moved my family from Ferndale to a suburb of Cleveland in 1978 when I was not quite a year old.
When we moved, he swore he would never allow me to be a Lions fan. I remember during my youth hearing him talk about how the Fords didnt care if the team won or lost because they were making money either way. About how they ruined Billy Sims. About how they couldnt find a quarterback in the dark with a flashlight and a homing signal...
So, I ended up becoming a Browns fan, mainly because of my Maternal Grandfather. He lived in Cleveland most of his life, and got his first set of season tickets when the Browns were still in the AAFC. Said the pair cost him $6.00 for the entire season. He held on to those tickets until 1984, when his second bout of cancer and old age made it not worthwhile for him any longer. Most fall SUndays were pent at their house, watching football with Grandpa and Dad, the day culminating in family dinner and the evening scramble to finish my homework.
So yeah - Dad didnt want me to be a Lions fan because the Lions were awful, and I ended up a Browns fan. Seems the Gods do have a sense of humor
Also that Elf is straight fire. It was the original team mascot and was banished by Art Modell. Even if it was awful, undoing anything Art Modell did is a win in my book
September 14th, 2022 at 7:16 PM ^
Wow. This explains a lot.
September 14th, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
I don't mind it, think it looks pretty good.
