NCAA Wrestling Day 2

Suriano at 125 got a pin, and Ragusin fell 8-7 at 133. Micic currently leads 6-2 after the 2nd period in the wrestlebacks.
I've got Mat 2 going tonight. Don’t have the twitters, so I can’t follow Michigan. Good matches and they are cycling through the weights. A lot of B1G wrestlers and all are winning,
Iowa shit the bed. BTN had a show in around 6 eastern and there were several Iowa wrestlers saying ‘this is my year’. Jinx! They won’t be the last man standing
PSU wrestlers finish 6-0 in the Championship Bracket QF. U-M wrestlers went 5-2.
In the team race, U-M really needed that Parris win --- there's still a path for U-M, but it's fair to say PSU's likelihood of winning increased further as a result of this morning.
Iowa had a terrible morning session. They may finish 5th in the team race at this rate.
My hope was that Parris could get 2nd to give us a shot since Kerk had to go against Steveson. The former can't happen but the latter is still true, so Parris will need to take 3rd for us to have a shot, right?
As things fall: Parris, Kerk and the #3 seeded Iowa wrestler (Cassioppi) are all going to be on the same side of the wrestle-back bracket.
(presuming Kerk loses to Steveson: which yeah, the sun is also going to set this evening, LOL)
That sets things up for a tough road: Cass and Parris (if they win their first matches this evening) wrestle tonight, then the winner gets Kerk tomorrow AM. The loser of Cass/Parris can only max out at 7th, the loser of Cass/Parris/Kerk can only max out at 5th.
But, yes, U-M wants Parris to max out and finish 3rd. If Parris wins 2 tonight, the match against Kerk will be significant in the team race.
Brucki going to OT, tied at 6.
Brucki with the takedown, and win in OT.
Great battle. Probably faced each other in the Ivies.
The Parris loss hurt a lot. Michigan needed to have a 6 to 5 advantage of wrestlers going into the semis
Ragusin's was heartbreaking. Kinda forgot about it after Lewan and Amine but that one hurts at least as much
Yes. But, I fully expected Parris to make it to the finals.
Micic v Eierman. That looked painful.
I missed what happened, only saw the result.
Micic wins by injury default.
Berge loses in 157 wrestlebacks. Penn State has the 6 semifinalists and noone still alive in the wrestlebacks. Michigan currently has 5 in the semis, with 3 in the consolations and pending Brucki at 197 could make it 4
And Brucki loses 3-1
Brucki falls 3-1. He has been eliminated, the first Michigan elimination if I'm not mistaken.
So to win the team race, Suriano, Myles and 1 of the other 3 semifinalists (Came, Lewan or Massa) needs to win, and everyone else needs 3rd or better, and then it'll be close. Probably not happening but I'm excited to see these guys compete and try for the podium.
The program has come a long way in just a few seasons.
Just a terrible end to Brucki's lone season in AA. I had really high hopes for him this weekend, especially with AJ Ferrari out of the tournament. He just didn't wrestle well at all.
Those two close losses are tough ones. Hanging tough with psu but gonna need some help. Finish strong!
It would be awesome if there was some kind of grid so we could see which wrestlers have scored which points for each team. Nothing but team totals makes it impossible to know what they are counting i.e. have they already accounted for the guys in the semis getting at least 9 points?
yea they do, when you advance they give you placement points based on the lowest seed you can fall to
Thanks! Let's win more! Go Blue!
