Buzzer beaters

Submitted by WolverineHistorian on

The last time Michigan won on a buzzer beater, to my recollection, was Tommy Amaker's first season: January 19, 2002 at Crisler.

Michigan came back from a 10 point deficit against Minnesota in the final 6 minutes to tie the game 69-69.  On the final play, Bernard Robinson Jr. threw up a 12 foot floater that went in at the buzzer.

That was the only drama to celebrate that year as the team finished 11-18.  The team was so bad, there's no footage of it on youtube or pictures of it on google.

The only other buzzer beater I can think of was the Fab Five's secound round tournament game against UCLA in 1993 with Jimmy King's put back....

Can anyone think of any others?

shot against Savannah State.  We were expected to beat them easily, but it came down to that shot.  I can still see it.  I was sitting about 15 rows up behind the basket where he scored.

But the year UM won the NIT in 96-97 maybe, UM played at ND in that tourney. UM had a juco transfer guard, he was like 5'6" or something, small guy, he hit a late game winner in that game. I could be wrong but I think there very few secs left in that one. Reason I remember was we went to ND to buy some scalped tix for the game. Well we struck out so we decided to find the closest bar. Every bar was packed. We were about to give up when 2 guys at a huge table said they had room for us. Great guys, many rounds were bought, and the whole game, we argued with each other about who's team was going to blow it in the end. We thought for sure UM would blow it and they argued ND would blow it. Well after UM won it at the end, the were more happy than us because they got to say, told you so. We didn't get tix, but we had a great time with some ND folks.

I was at the Robert Henderson game. The game basically sucked because UM was way ahead and slowly let Illinois tie it up. And then Henderson hit the game winner and the place went crazy.

Later I saw him going to the movies at Fox Village.

A buzzer beater, IIRC, but freshman Daniel Horton against ranked Wisconsin. Many of us thought / hoped we were watching the beginning of the first coming of Trey Burke.
