New in-state offer: 2024 WR Nicholas Marsh
River Rouge (MI) River Rouge wide receiver Nicholas Marsh earned an offer from Michigan. He's 6'3", 195 lbs. and also has offers from Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, and West Virginia, among others. He had 4 catches for 85 yards in yesterday's state championship game (which River Rouge lost to DeWitt) and then got a few offers today.
Not bad for a 9th grader.
You'll also like this: His nickname (at least on Twitter) is "Megatron."
This is the third in-state offer in the 2024 class, joining QB Isaiah Marshall and DE Brandon Davis-Swain.

He's also got a qb who actually throws the ball to him. I haven't seen that at Michigan on a consistent basis in years. It would be nice if Harbaugh got a decent qb and didn't drive him away

Maybe JH should hire that JV qb coach who is doing something Harbaugh hasn't for 6 years

It's amazing how bitter people can be. I not knocking a high school kid but what impressed you with his throws? Most of the video clips were simple lobs with very little velocity. You seem to have forgot that Patterson passed for 5600 yards, 45 touchdowns with a 60 percent completion percentage.

Magnus, I don't mean to thread jack, but I have a question that doesn't seem worthy of its own board topic. I have heard a rumor that Penn State OLB Lance Dixon is going to be entering the transfer portal.
If you recall, he was a composite top-200 player and a 5-star according to 247. He played at West Bloomfield and was a top-5 player in the state.
I know you're pretty keyed in to the realm of recruiting, and I assume that carries over somewhat to the transfer portal. IF Dixon does indeed end up in the portal as is being speculated, do you see him being a target for us? I would imagine with McGrone's exit and the lack of experience/depth at the position, we could use a former highly-touted recruit who played in our backyard. And, since Dixon played at WB, would Bellamy's addition to the staff mean we are the first school on Dixon's list?
Thanks.

Is he related to Amos??

Spotting them early and offering can't hurt while building relationships.
January 24th, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
They need to do more of this, especially with the local kids who might be fans growing up. If they don't pan out there are multiple ways to part without it looking bad.
January 25th, 2021 at 1:06 AM ^
I don’t know. Offering this early can certainly backfire and potentially burn some bridges. Even if you tell the kid he needs to continue to work hard and improve, if they have to pull the offer, the player and his coaches may feel like he did everything asked of him. When that happens it will be twice as hard to get the next guy that comes through that school.

Okay, Ron, time to get to work.

KC is just destroying the Bills. I really don't think the Browns or Bills as being elite teams. I would put the Saints and Packers in that category and the Chiefs in the AFC. It should be a good game. If the Packers had won, I would be rooting for the Chiefs but since TB and Brady has won, I'll be rooting for Brady.

2024? I’d say it’s a bit too early to be out here identifying pee wee football players.

He’s a freshman - have you lived under a rock for the last couple of decades? (I see you have been here for less than 5 glorious hours)

Spare me i’m 74 years old and my grandson just showed me the site. at my school they did freshmen football and they weren’t allowed to particiate with varsity. So there was this one kid named jeff jefferson on my team. he wore 23. and he ran all over and dominated the other freshmen. but Then he went to varsity and disappeared. I think he’s dead now rip

Okay - I apologize. New commenters with initially negative comments are typically trolls opening up new accounts (especially with the unique profile pic). I mistook you for a troll. Since you are new around here, you will learn the ropes pretty quickly in the coming days if you spend as much time on here as a lot of us do. I hope you enjoy sharing your thoughts with us - Welcome to the blog! (I had a few people accuse me of being a troll during my first few weeks on here as well - so we now have that in common).
And if you were not aware, offering freshmen is a routine practice nowadays - but your point is understood: A lot can change over three years. Anyways, getting the offers in early often makes the player have a special bond with the team that offered them first. That is just how the competitive recruiting game goes nowadays.

I STILL THINK YOU'RE A TROLL!

Ted, I'll be locking up your account @1:30am. Any questions, please make them quickly.
If I don't get a reply here by 1:30am you will have to email Seth tomorrow in order to get your account unlocked. His Twitter link can be found at the bottom of the page under the heading "MGoElsewhere", otherwise you can also click here:

Although you claim to be legit and not a troll, I have reason to be suspicious. I'll leave it at that for now.
If I happen to be wrong in my suspicions, my sincere apologies.

So long, Ted the Troll. We hardly knew ye! What we did know was enough so...
January 25th, 2021 at 8:12 AM ^
Thank you. Any 73 year old would not have given so much energy to being accused of anything. Years will callous you to those types of things. See ya, Ted.
January 25th, 2021 at 9:08 AM ^
Yes, probably a troll, but if he's really 73 y/o I doubt he'd be awake at 1:30 am. I haven't seen 1:30 am in about 12 years.

Nice 73! See Ted, not everyone here is a jerk (leaves post to sit in corner with dunce cap on)
January 24th, 2021 at 10:48 PM ^
Yes i know that. I’ve been scared of fans since 2016 when i was at a game talking about um to a youngin and some man told me to “run Off creep”. Also grandson told me about trolls and how some troll infiltrated a lions board about their new hire. So watch out for those mean trool things? Also i remember back in the 50s this youngin named james decided to pour car oil onto the class floor and crash the teacher’s ford. He had to sit in the class with a dunce cap.

I watched much of that game on FSD yesterday and couldn't believe he was just a freshman. Possibly a very good find if he continues to develop and get stronger, he sure didn't look like a typical freshman to me yesterday.
January 25th, 2021 at 12:46 AM ^
I think its great to offer these young kids. It will make them pay more attention to your program and if they like what they see, they may sign a LOI one day. Hard to believe we will not know for 3 years if he will be playing at Michigan. A lot could change from now until the end of the 2023 season. I hope its all positive with a win against OSU. One can only dream.
January 25th, 2021 at 10:25 AM ^
Well, I sure am glad a troll showed up to hijack the thread.
January 25th, 2021 at 12:15 PM ^
Hard to believe a 6'3" freshman receiver can be a star for the River Rouge varsity. Usually kids of that height can barely walk as freshman. Based on the video - one hell of an athlete.
Ann Arbor awaits, young Nicholas.
Go Blue!!!

He’ a youngster that been physically dominant in youth football because he’s athletic and always been 6”inches taller than his peers. I’d be interesting to see what his sprint times are during the track and field season.
The defensive lineman that is committed to Michigan from River Rouge did not impress me at all. He was a non-factor, I think he got in on one tackle. He doesn’t play with any explosion, rage, aggressiveness or anything you want to see from a mean son of a bitch on the line. His feet look like they’re in cement.
